His death hit me extra hard because I was expecting him to make it to his late 70s at least. I wasn't ready.
Can you handle weird scales? the banjo in this is really cool in counterpoint to the basic honky tonk

or Jo Brand. Maybe it's just "I'm too old to be this tired" energy.
and I love your kids too.
I love your kid.
...how do you...not know?
(and for the record that was 1987)
Dad was a college professor and Mom was a college librarian. There was never any question of me not doing this.
Part of it was to sample classes but my mom was also worried about me finding a community and social life that would suit. I was always a weirdo.
@patrickbarb.bsky.social do you have any ideas?
...um, yay for the hiatus? but in all serious I hope this is balanced out by something equally unexpected in the other, more positive direction.
I read it first as "Buttseeking"
...as long as Putin finds her useful, is my guess.
the thing I'm working on is non-fiction, so I do a lot of reading - as research. Most times it's constructive, but last night...no. The first half of my session was fixing a thing a friend pointed out, and I just couldn't get my brain to switch over.

I too had a pretty craptastic writing day. I keep reminding myself that if I just keep having writing days they will eventually average out.
I feed my husband nattokinase supplements for exactly that. He jokes about how easily I could kill him as he gulps his pills, but he never wants to know what he's taking or why.

Class of '88, read AF and 1984 in my off time not in school (but we did have Brave New World). Liberal private HS in suburban Mass.
oooh, how do they taste?!
don't get me wrong, a full English is a Thing of Beauty. Sometimes I even like the beans, if there's enough tomato and less brown sugar. But a righteous fry-up is nothing one gets on the way to another 14-hour day in the office.
I said "what do you people PUT in your food?" loud enough that the person in front of me in line edged away.

I ate very well during the 4+ years I lived there, but breakfast was hard because everything was carby & sweet. One day, exhausted by jetlag & frantic overwork, I stopped @ Starbux and picked up a breakfast sammie, thinking "at last!" only to discover it was drowning in ketchup.

the Resist movement somehow ended up with a lot of nominally liberal folks who demonize anyone who says "don't treat people like that" because "the other side is worse".
ugh. The whole Thank God He's Not Trump thing has some real problems...
this is part of why one friend loathes Mitch McConnell so much.
