Submitted MS #2 to something today though I want and will continue to tinker with it—maybe a lot more—maybe maybe—but I just felt like I needed to undermine all that!! That yes/no/it's ready/it's not/FOREVER tinker urge!

Been in a bit of a fallow period & couldn't be happier to re-emerge by way of @creamcityreview.bsky.social, a magazine I've admired for years. Here's a peek at two new & soft poems—many thanks to the CCR readers & editors for giving these a home! All heart, all flesh. ❤️🥩

(also I feel like one of the bigger tells that I'm more at peace with my waking hours is how easy dry january's been this go-around; previous years have been...difficult to a degree I haven't felt brave enough to confront or unpack, but tbqh I've barely noticed it this year)

(to be clear this applies largely to individual life conditions and not to large-scale sociocultural phenomena, which are as dreadpacked as they ever were—but at least not i'm not compounding climate doom with hating my job, etc)

I was holding so much daily dread between 2021 and 2024. I've made some changes in my life that have lead to much of that dread no longer existing, and it's like wiping off my glasses after a lifetime of trying to see through thumb grease. Is this how people live??

2024 was a great year because I got to drink champagne at the Library of Congress with the poet laureate and I also dressed up as Chiaotzu for Halloween

from my experience working in publishing it's very uncommon to make a significant, long-term profit from a poetry book—it's just not a big-selling genre, so advances and royalties tend to be more modest. energetic publicity and event planning can help, but it's still usually a break-even thing.
