Don't typically comment on comic book films as much or at all anymore (I think?), but if CLAYFACE lands I think that's super exciting. Being able to actually experiment with the medium in a meaningful way would do it some good. So I hope it works. At the very least I'm interested.

I enjoyed Bob Odenkirk's latest Derek-Kolstad-scripted action joint NORMAL, directed by Ben Wheatley. Odenkirk plays the interim sheriff in a small Minnesota town who's unable to ignore some serious shit going down.
This means a lot coming from you. Appreciate this man, thank you. ✊
Max is a great writer and you should be reading his stuff.
I dunno, I've always thought it was regarded pretty well among videogame adaptations. Beats the shit out of the sequel.
If anything, it reminds me of Argento; not particularly terrifying, but stylised enough to be interesting, even in spite of the terrible studio mandated exposition section.
Once again I’d like to thank my editor Angel Melanson for giving me the opportunity to write about this. Her advice and guidance made me truly happy with how this turned out.
Feel free to listen to some Akira Yamaoka while you read. Enjoy!

I could have gone so much deeper on the film, especially with this nugget I had to cut about 9/11 that came late in the editing process, but alas.
If nothing else I hope the detractors can see a kernel of the ideas I posit with this piece and revisit the film with fresh eyes.
I return once again to @fangoria.bsky.social to get lost in the fog as I celebrate 20 years of Christophe Gans' SILENT HILL (2006)!
I love this film warts & all. Embedded deep in it's veins is the purest idea of what makes Silent Hill as a concept so very, very sad.

We go big and long. Which means there's plenty of time for me to make some on-air blunders.
It's been a minute since we've had such a funny episode filled with tangents. Hope everyone enjoys and then some.
Last night we got caught doing shenanigans at the movies
Knowing how much Max loves this movie, I'm delighted somewhere let him write about it. Guarantee its some great stuff too
Just want to say I see the response to this and it is very much appreciated. Thanks one and all! I hope you enjoy my brief dive and celebration of the film as much as the film itself.
It's certainly a movie
Saros Promotional Image.
Indian journalist looking to review anticipated game with lead Indian protagonist played by an Indian actor.
Want to review Saros, please.
Have covered many games with South Asian leads over the years. Have written about South Asian characters/games for a multitude of publications.
Please, help.
Had a great time sitting down with the wonderful and insightful Bob Odenkirk to talk about his new film Normal, Jackie Chan, reflecting on his heart attack five years later, and why sketch comedy and fight choreography aren't all that different

Check it out!!!
Thanks once again to @neuroticmonkey.bsky.social for allowing me an outlet to cover what may very well be an entry into one of my favorite films of all time.
I’m back again with Neon Splatter to talk about one of my favorite discoveries of the last few years. I hope you’ll give this a read and check the film out. It’s well worth the 72 minutes and then some.
Most films with budgets in the millions wish they could be as grand and economical as this.

@odstspartan.bsky.social on how a genre-blending indie defies its low budget to create a vastly rich experience.

the new horror thriller Night Patrol lands on Shudder this Friday. it's a stylish and occasionally sharp subversion of police genre staples that ultimately falls short of its lofty ambitions. my review: pvguide.ghost.io/night-patrol...
really good images of the model of NYC they made for the hudsucker proxy from an old issue of cinefex
Praise be unto him for He Has Risen
grateful for anyone who reads this essay -- 25TH HOUR a defining movie of our time, imo
Just logging in to make sure that @travisjj.bsky.social has seen THE HOWLING remake news. Could be nothin. Could be somethin. But his Werewolves' are making a comeback...

Paxton and Thornton are excellent. This would make a killer play.
Also I threw on the 07' remake of THE HITCHER for some pod prep & outside of Sean Bean breaking his back making someone and something halfway compelling to watch for 80 minutes, the less said about it the better.
Followed that up with a neo-noir in Sam Raimi’s A SIMPLE PLAN (1998) and I did not know he had such a cold, mean streak in him. Greed makes good people reach new depths of the evil things they are willing to do for a better life (none more so than a stone cold Bridget Fonda).
The last few days Hammer Film Productions was calling me like the Green Goblin mask so I threw on CAPTAIN CLEGG/NIGHT CREATURES (1962). Peter Cushing goes full swashbuckling, redeemed pirate trickster hero as he charmingly outwits and bamboozles the King’s Men for 82 minutes.
Have plenty of homework to get through this week. Earlier today it began with a rewatch of something you’ll find me finally having written about here in the not so distant future.
