First time in my life I've seen diesel over $4 a litre. This is going to sting for all of us. I wish we'd electrified all our trucks & trains ages ago. I've been saying it for years. 😕

Human-caused climate change is unmistakably distinct from Earth’s natural climate variability Five independent fits across four independent archives and 66 million years — the empirical case in two figures

"Clark et al. (2016) showed that decisions made in the next few decades will lock in sea level rise, ice sheet loss, and temperature change that persist for thousands of years — well beyond any planning horizon human civilization has ever contemplated."

Why Petrol Is So Hard to Quit EV hostility is often grief in disguise. Grief for a tactile, mechanical world that felt comprehensible. But it's time to accept reality.

Margaux Parker, breakfast host on Triple M Brisbane, announced last week that she would rather pay ten dollars a litre for petrol than drive an electric car. She’d also had enough of smug EV drivers.

Kia takes on Toyota HiAce with Australia's cheapest electric van Kia's first van in Australia in 20 years is the country's cheapest EV van, slightly smaller than a diesel HiAce for similar money.

The 2026 Kia PV5 van has been priced for Australia. From $55990 + ORC. It's now the cheapest EV van on the market and should scare the pants off the Hiace.

Is Australia's EV sales surge a one-off or a structural shift? The clue is in the order backlog Australia enjoyed record EV sales in March, but how long will it last? The answer may lie in the growing backlog of electric car orders, and the federal government's policy choices.

4 people are flying around that Moon today.
The first since 1972, and the first-ever with digital cameras, to see better into the dark craters and textures.
The crew will have perfect quiet when the Moon blocks out Earth - a time of peace, alone, together.

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

More context on this #Artemis II image:

* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right

* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

"20 yrs ago the world took a year to add 1 gigawatt of solar.
Now it takes just half a day.

Solar costs have fallen by around 90% over past decade, & as costs fall, installations accelerate.

Nowhere is this clearer than in China 🇨🇳. It now accounts for well over half of global solar installations"

March 2026, fully electric cars on the roads in the U.K. hit a staggering total of 1,804,878. Thats 5.13% (or 1 in 19). In Feb 21,840 EV cars were registered, that’s 24% of all cars. The transition to EVs is really visible now on the roads. I’m seeing also dozens of BYD brands👏

Soaring petrol prices have exposed a 'rotten core' in Australia The existential already became real for people when fuel prices increased almost overnight and then interest rates followed.

This isn’t 2020 as we can’t just turn the global economy off and then on like what happened with Covid - the level of capital destruction that is happening at the moment means there is no switch to turn back on. 2020 doesn’t apply here.

He led quite a life. (1/53)
