Too narrow a string. When you go towards the center, it becomes more establishment, and the hegemon is more clearly defined. When you extend into the wings of each side, there’s a lot more diversity and contrast of ideological thinking— fringe at times, yes, but much easier to extend a wider tent.

Centrist dems in the party are conservative in their approach to politics. They are, at times, the center-right, and rarely they have thought to swing towards the core or even far left. Leadership has become too exclusive based on their own perceptions of the political agency of candidates.
