That headline is no overstatement. Sound on for this great article about the Finnish singer Vilma Jää: www.nytimes.com/2026/04/22/a...
Why do we have "Massholes" but not "Assachusetts"?

One thing about the New York Mets is that they never settle for mediocrity.
Even when they are not actually saying it, you can sing along with "Zydeco and a zydeco, zydeco and a zydeco."
This isn't the right time for anachronisms
(Honestly, I can't recommend it.)

Incredibly, this story is 21 years old. Nevertheless, in honor of Jackie Robinson Day… archive.vanityfair.com/article/2005...
I had lunch with Stephen J Cannell once. He ordered a tuna sandwich and added an entire mini jar of mayo. He was magnificent.
In the late 90s I met these twin little boys named Montel and Williams who's mama dressed them identically in suits like Montel Williams would wear on his show

I owe Hampshire College everything, nearly all of it good. It was a beautiful thing, and we're losing too many of those.
At Galatoire's tonight I was with a 17-year-old who ordered a steak and,on the side, a single egg benedict. Baller.

Dear Philly Mag readers, We need your help. On July 4, America 250—the national group responsible for leading the country’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—will bury a time capsule in Independence National Historical Park. The capsule has been built by scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and is designed to withstand 250 years underground. Contents will include items from Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Executive branch, sports memorabilia, student submissions, and contributions from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and five U.S. territories. Which made us think—what would you put in a time capsule, Philadelphia? What would represent the people, the products, the vibe, the memorabilia, the sights, and the sounds of 2026 Philly? Maybe a cryogenically frozen Angelo’s cheesesteak, or Jill Scott’s latest album? Maybe a chunk of Jason Kelce’s beard, or a PPA ticket? Got thoughts? Email timecapsule@phillymag.com with your first name, neighborhood, and ideas, however big or small. Suggestions should be quintessentially Philadelphian—the things that we want 2276 Philly to know about 2026 Philly—but let your imagination run free. The best ideas will appear in our June issue. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
We're doing a fun little thing over at @phillymag.com and could use your help. Email timecapsule@phillymag.com with your ideas, and share widely. Thanks!

A court ruled one whiskey bottle looked too much like another. Which would be more convincing if most whiskey bottles didn’t already look like they came from the same 19th-century saloon.

Not necessarily my favorite, and shouldn't be anybody else's, but I'm glad to have been in that number. www.nytimes.com/2019/11/26/m...
Can you explain what this is?
