During Artemis II’s flight people were posting the astronauts taking pics with Nikon gear and I pointed out how 3 of my fav lenses were Nikons that NASA used in the 1970’s.
This whole piece was shot with one of those, the Nikkor-S 55mm f1.2 (which was used by NASA to photograph the ozone layer)
We simulated Zero G by putting me in rollerblades (whenever my feet aren’t visible) and having Erin (our producer) down below pushing and pulling me around the stage, so my movements weren’t entirely under my own control. Trying to keep my balance with that going on gave it a nice floaty feeling

Our specialty is recreating three-strip Technicolor with analog tools and in three-strip there are also unique colored flares (magenta). After we combined period correct lenses with our equipment we were able to have those magenta flares without any digital manipulation. So I’m sure its possible.
They’re an artifact of the combination of the lens coatings used at the time and the way colors were layered in the film negative.

We lit this piece way up into the shoulder to better match the backdrop. It was one of the largest we’ve used, we had about 300fc for the overexposed key
