It’s crazy how fun programming is, isn’t it? I’m sometimes in shock that someone hired me to do what I’d do anyways.

They also don't deliver SMS while abroad, so when I was in Europe last year I was unable to login into a few accounts because of this. But it's also one of those invisible failure modes, so good luck figuring out what happened and why nothing works.

And don't get me started on the ones that use SMS MFA. The absolute worst. Fun fact, my phone carrier sends SMS MFA (kinda makes sense, I guess), but won't actually deliver it if, let's say, your credit card expired and the monthly payment failed. I know, crazy unforeseeable edge case.

As a person with a password manager, the friction of "We sent you a code to your email to login with" is insane. Can we just go back to passwords, please? The worst are the sites that want username/email + password and then send you an email.

The AI crowd is giving me strong crypto/web3 vibes im their evangelism. I don’t care how good it is, the crowd is just insufferable.

Windows Defender is apparently now marking netcat as a naughty program and just deletes it. Unfortunately that breaks shader reloading in X-Plane because that uses the built-in telnet server to execute the commands. Thanks Microsoft, it's the third time I'm downloading netcat again...

Wasn’t the viewport always part of the available dynamic state from day one? I have not once baked a viewport into a PSO. Even pre descriptor heaps, Vulkan is actually quite nice to use. My only gripe is the mobile ecosystem which is all over the place and there’s a lot of meh drivers.

I have a hot take and that is that ObjC is an underrated language. The message passing system is pretty neat and allows for some fun dynamic programming. And as someone who doesn’t mind lisp, the brackets aren’t a deal breaker. Swift on the other hand is terrible with none of the ObjC ugly beauty.

Of course Slack also needs to shove AI into everything whether anyone wants it or not. And of course the "Don't ask again" button doesn't work. Not in the sense that it ignores your request, it literally can't be clicked. The state of software these days is absolutely disgusting.

I’ve completely given up on those places, it’s just not worth the hassle and time. I just donate everything at this point.

As a graphics programmer I have to say the effect is really good. I love slow scrolling and seeing it run in real-time is sooo cool. As human though, what the actual fuck? Why is my UI a tech demo now?!
