I’ll try to check and adjust it sometime this week or next. Thanks for the feedback

Yes, and I created a feed that shows folks favorite trees.

Like so many other rules, the enforcement may end up being be selectively applied. Currently some precincts can vote in minutes and others take closer to an hour or more - year after year in the same general regions.

Someone totally misunderstood how much rage I generally keep under wraps. This person basically tried to stiff me for a few thousand dollars. It’s a housing scam.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with somebody’s mayor and next I’m calling a governor.

Sometimes you choose right one but wrong day.

Step further. Slurs are treated as “telling it like it is.”

That whole “Live free or die” thing…

It’s unsurprising and horrific. Both the statement and the lack of response.

They still have the Rockford Files, but there’s no Hawaii.

They do have the Love Boat, a different genre of ignorable tv.

But no Magnum?!?

My gently used DVD garden is about to grow.

I like to put on old mystery and detective shows, like Perry Mason, to calm down. The familiarity of voices in the background helps.

One of the biggest papercuts in moving to Canada was losing access to Magnum PI on the Roku channel.

Daniel is one of my favorite people I’ve worked with at any job, and I’ve had A LOT of jobs. Highly recommend!

So, I’m thankful for the humans and models that are helping me to catalogue my field’s history.

Right now, papers are being published faster than they can be read. That limits fields’ ability to build off of new findings or to link new ideas with their older foundations.

But if we want to ask big questions, or new questions, or old questions but in search of new answers, then we have to innovate.

When he said it’d be faster if I just screened the work instead of “trying to teach computers how to read,” I felt like it was time to bring out the napkins.

My project doesn’t use LLM for screening, but it does use machine learning approaches that people are understandably skeptical of.

I was spurred to look at the math after my son, who is ten, told me I had been working on this project “forever” and “for like two months.”

I didn’t have the heart to correct him that I had been working on this for a few years.

For a single person to screen that many docs, “by hand,” I believe I estimated that it would be around 15 years of full time work.

*The “napkins” aren’t in front of me, so this is from memory.

I think the estimate for slow readers was three times that count.

On the last point, I did some napkin math. Taking reading times into consideration, it’d take a team of 492 fast readers working long shifts to get the same amount of research documents screened in a weekend.

There are more fun things to do with 492 friends on a weekend.

This weekend:

I watched UNC beat Duke with my wife and son.

I watched the Super Bowl (while working to finish this dissertation).

I used a semi-automated approach to screen 944,000 research documents.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

If that’s the criteria, then Hurts may be more qualified: Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, Brian Daboll, Lincoln Riley, Doug Peterson, Shane Steichen, Kellen Moore, and the overall leadership of Nicks Saban and Sirianni.
