What makes this setting so fun is trying to keep the fantasy elements going alongside this stuff. It's a blast!
You'd think the fact that even in vanilla there were several dozen instances in Kalimdor where you were messing with cameras and helping out in Gadgetzan, and let's not forget the thousand needles with its race track.

Half the fun in this setting is spitting in the face of anachronisms! I ran an RP event where we helped smuggle a crate of contraband through the dark tunnels beneath a sprawling city.
We fought off black-blood creatures and rogues in the dark? Opened the crate? Inside were bootleg Shrock DVDs.
(just learn to have a little fun. It won't kill you to ease up on the grimdark fantasy when you're in a collaborative setting. Hell, it's actually hilarious to pair off a grizzled knight in armour with their buddy boblin the coffee addicted goblin. God it's like you've never played dnd before.)
If this was elder scrolls, MAYBE I'd understand why you'd feel your immersion at risk, but you jumped wholesale into a setting that is fueled primarily through pop culture references.
