I'm not the victim. Women have to act like it is all men, because the cost of trusting us can be so high. They bear the brunt. The fallout taints and hurts all of us. Or there'd not be the backlash if you so much as dare to say #notallmen. Decent men are worse off, but how do we police our brethren?

I see the after effects of it. I don't see it happening. I don't hang in bars, I don't gossip in locker rooms. I don't have the means to intervene. When my partner was affected by it, I had to avoid confronting the culprit, even when I met him, because I'd suffer the consequences, not him.

Reason 4: The scum that do this do not brag about it. Decent men feel powerless to do anything about it: we don't see it happening, we just hear about it happening. We suffer the consequences, the damaged trust and the wariness. We'd gladly end every one of these assholes, but it ain't legal.

Aaron Swartz was hounded and persecuted by overzealous prosecutors for a mass JSTOR download until he committed suicide.

Sam Altman says that he deserves to violate copyright law in perpetuity because otherwise he can't make a fortune from a large language model.

We are in the wrong timeline.

There is an industry making high temp superconductor tape that doesn't need helium now, but replacing all the existing scanners would be an expensive ask.

Was lamenting this over a decade ago, trying to get my tiny boring old plain-text email, which should have been an easy task for cellular networks by then, but unable to because I was in a train station with everyone streaming everything all at once.

Of course, consumption goes up in a kind of cube law as videos get taller, wider, and longer.

Wireless bandwidth is a kind of tragedy of the commons ; the more we consume, the more we need to shrink the cells, and crowded cells get less usable.

Hilarious that people were making a fuss because *The Sun* tried to make his hypnosis about boobs as well.

The Sun tries to make _everything_ about boobs.

Wondering if the frequency of this and the cost of time wasted by the meeting participants would actually justify the position of "Finder of the Meeting Room".

in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with.
this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

Me in 2000 playing Majoras Mask: Nintendo is so weird and surreal. Don't the adults in Termina realise the world is going to end? Why do I, a literal child, have to save them?!

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.

There's art even in picking the right stock photo for your slide / article. Used to devote a reasonable slice of time to making each one an amusing counterpoint to the information being presented.

Now? Yawn, another butt print from an Infinite Monkey.

My faves are by far the Kuru Toga self-sharpening ones, but now I have a Kuru Toga Dive there's nowhere further up to go.

The Roulette is just lovely though. Knurled metal grips are a premium sense experience.
