I wanted to cry because everything is shit but then I realized I had a cabbage and now, for the briefest sparkling moment in time, I am made whole again.

I used to draw full time as a profession. Now I’m lucky to put pencil to paper once every six months. I’m working to change that this year, but it’s tough when you always hate the outcome of your own work.

#artists of BlueSky, would love your thoughts on how to stop getting in your own way!

You get two choices in sportswear: uniboob but supportive, or pretty boobs but flying all around and smacking you in the chin. There’s no in-between that I have ever found.

Quick little Sharp Doodle!

(Note: I do not support JKR- but I did like the character design that the artists who worked on Hogwarts Legacy created)

The person getting their nails done and people like this person KNOW they are racist and KNOW other people disagree with that. This is why they start doing these mental gymnastics to try to justify their feelings and soften the blow for others.

Don’t fall for it. Call it out for what it is.

Celebrating Black History Month Poems, readings, poetry news and the entire 110-year archive of POETRY magazine.

Today marks the start of Black History Month.

A history being silenced and erased in visibility to the general public so that we might more easily capitulate to acts of overt racism. So that we would accept them.

Let us learn this month. Let us listen to our fellow man.

And let no one forget.

With the terrible tragedy over the skies of D.C., it’s time to prioritize safety. Trump must end the hiring freeze on air traffic controllers and restore the aviation safety advisory committee he dismantled on Jan 22.

Your art is beautiful! How do you plan your work? Do you begin creating with an image in your mind, or do you let the inspiration guide you?

Trump doesn't care if the economy crashes and communities suffer. His goal is to force you and your family to accept a lower standard of living while he and his friends get richer. Cutting support for law enforcement, schools, small businesses and firefighters is chaos by design.

🔴 Suspension of the Equal Rights order of 1965.
🔴 Right-wing harassment of religious clergy.
🔴 Government web sites being scrubbed of anything that has to do with DEI, immigration resources, transgender.

Why am I feeling like this is just some weird episode of The Twilight Zone set in Nazi Germany?

So the next time you open ChatGPT to ask it a question, ask yourself: do you still see yourself in the answer?

I hate AI.

Because you can’t love AI without hating the things that make us human.

But other people can. People can build an oasis, simply by leveraging the things that make us human. Taking wild risks, saying offbeat things. Dancing to no music. Letting feeling dictate action, with logic as a rudder.

Some don’t care. “It worked before, it will work now!”

But times are changing. Your money doesn’t go as far as it did before. We’ve got a lot to think about and focus on. People are tired of doing the same thing over and over again.

AI cannot provide water to that desert.

So when a client comes to me in a panic because they’re not seeing the results they want and now they want AI to take over and drive the bus, I remind them that their new driver can only take them down well known roads- it cannot explore new ways to reach the destination.

But they can’t. They may be spitting out an average of human response in reactions to every question, but those responses are stripped of the spirit of discovery.

AI solutions attempt to homogenize and outsource the act of thought, rather than encourage it to break new barriers.

I’ve challenged the machines to think like a human. Take the sum collective of your experience, color that with emotion, throw in a dash of imagination, theorize based on feelings, run a train of thought through the walls of what’s acceptable and normal, and then start giving answers.

But my life wasn’t “difficult” before AI. Critical thinking, as an act, should be a daily practice. It’s true that sometimes the answers don’t come easy, but the beauty of being human is our unique journey through every aspect of our being.

I’m told the machine is by humans, for humans.

I hate AI. (1/8)

My industry is full of heart-eyed adopters who keep pushing the rhetoric of “learn to love the bomb” to everyone around them, be they colleague or client.

I’m encouraged to use it daily. I’m asked why I’m not using it. I’m shown how much easier it will make my life.
