My sweet friend @angylesbian.bsky.social has just launched the Kickstarter for her next album (and I get to be a small part of helping her bring her vision to life, and I'm immensely grateful for her trust!) Highly recommended!! #folk #filk #laurenoxford #sapphicmusic #mentalhealth #mamatrauma
Recognizing a change is needed can be devastating.
Following through can be worse. But through is often the only path valid to follow.
May both of your paths be eased in the end by this change. Strength and prosperity to your future.

This is a well-documented pattern in medical research and reflects systemic gender bias in pain assessment and treatment.👇
Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos by Seanan McGuire, and the Command Tower card that it came with
Finished Omens of Chaos tonight. It's a fun, light-hearted romp and a perfect palette cleanser from all of the Warhammer novels I'd been reading. @seananmcguire.bsky.social did an excellent job of giving the Magic nerds a lot to chew on while making the book perfectly accessible to everyone else.

Sand and Water, by Beth Neilson Chapman. Used as the closing song to a brutal episode of ER. I was INSANE trying to identify and acquire it. Still a favorite today.
I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.
Yup. Also, leaving out issues of plagiarism, etc, one relevant question for many creatives is "why introduce into my workflow a purported tool that will add friction and slow things down." If you have skills and a method that works for you, "AI" is generally a drag, not a boost. Time is precious.
Why would I use "AI," I actually know how to fucking write
I am so anti-AI, I have stopped using word databases because they added AI. Do not make these assumptions about professional creatives.
Accountability brings consequences.
And consequences are the only language corruption understands.
Money and political power do not outrank the Constitution.
They just need a wake up call and it’s coming at the midterms.👇
I said this in replies elsewhere, but I want to say it loudly here.
Anything other than a fullthroated affirmation of birthright citizenship in this country by SCOTUS is an act of treason. It is grounds for immediate impeachment. It is a violation of every oath they have made.
"It's none of my business," the woman said, "but..."
The witch did not roll her eyes.
"...I heard you gave the baker's gal fangs, and claws."
"She asked."
"You've made her a monster!"
"Adding doesn't make you a monster. Removing does."
"Removing what?"
"Someone's right to be who they are."
Sláinte (Health/cheers) is pronounced sa-lon-cha!
Céad míle fáilte (100,000 welcomes) is pronounced kade-meela-falcha
Uisce beatha (whisky) is pronounced ish-ka ba-ha
I hope you have a hundred thousand welcomes.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Final thoughts:
-don't drink a boot toe-up
-always, always tip the bar
-hydrate
-if you can't decide between liquor and food, you need food
-coffee does not sober anyone up faster
-hydrate
-clap and cheer for musicians and dancers
-walk carefully when drunk
-ask for help if you need it

One of the best things about being a little bit Irish is standing up for the little guy, the laborer, the hungry, the poor.
One of the best things about being a little bit Irish is standing up against imperialism and even standing up against war and death.
Stand true today. Look out for folks. ☘️
Everyone's a little bit Irish today! Wear that green! Sing with us! Drink with us!
Don't pinch anybody whose green you can't see, don't grab anybody's butt who doesn't want it grabbed, don't pressure other people to drink, don't make fun of people for drinking.
Everybody gets to have fun today.
It is NOT okay, no matter how drunk or rich you are, to ever touch the band's microphones or instruments.
There is no amount of whiskey that makes an audience member the impromptu emcee of the bar.
None.
If, when you imagine requesting a song, your mind goes totally blank of all music you've ever known, that's normal.
It's OK to just go up to the band and ask for something happy or sad or something to dance to!
It's OK to just go up to the band and tell them they're great!
Offer them a round!
Want to request something from the band?
It helps to:
--Name an artist or a genre rather than a specific song.
--Tip. Most artists have an online tipjar somewhere if you're out of cash.
--Don't ask for Danny Boy unless someone's died or you have at least $20 to give the band
Got a case of the sniffles?
As an #Irish #Musician and #fiddler, I recommend the following cough drop and #whiskey / #whisky pairings:
Ricola: Tullamore Dew
Honees: Jameson or Powers
Halls: Scotch
Halls Cherry: Bourbon
If you do not have money to give the band or the venue, but you can pass the hat for them (don't take *their* tip jar without permission!), that is worth SO MUCH. Usually at least a hundred dollars goes to the band that wouldn't otherwise.
Bridge that gap between band and audience.
Be a hero.
Second:
Is there live music where you are this weekend?
The best, BEST way you can help a live band is to pick up some container/hat/pitcher/glass and *walk around the venue* passing the hat for the band. The band is on stage and cannot reach the audience.
...the audience is drunk.
First:
Gonna drink? Awesome! "Raise up your glass to the boys who took a stand/Raise up your glass, sing along with the band*!"
Eat before drinking, plan your ride + recovery.

Good morning! I love pie and math but today I must focus on the one time of year where everybody can tell I'm a rockstar.
Keeping that firmly in mind, here's some tips for the day when everybody's a little bit Irish (except the Scots, they're still Scottish, but we welcome them on this day also):
Restore Customs and the Secret Service to the Treasury.
Restore TSA and the Coast Guard to the Dept. of Transportation.
Restore FEMA to its original independent status - hell, make it a whole Department, we're going to need it.
Restore all the small random agencies to Justice.
Be done with it.
Playing politics with disaster relief funding is a new low, even for the Trump Administration.
Let’s call it for what it really is: a politically motivated decision that punishes thousands of Illinois families in a critical moment of need.
Keep resisting, keep standing up, and keep speaking out, Illinois.
