Oracy = speaking, listening & thinking skills that drive learning.
Key takeaways:
• Improves attainment & engagement
• Needs whole-school strategy & leadership
• Structured talk (paired, prompts, modelling) is key
• High-quality CPD is essential
Talk isn’t extra—it’s how learning happens.
Phase 1 summer term training focused on alliteration and oral blending/segmenting. Nicole & Natalie demonstrated THE Partnership Phonics materials (PPTs, books, sound cards), with a focus on SEND support, plus live teaching demos and Q&A on assessment, tech, and non-verbal learners.
A high-impact, no-fluff series designed for Heads of Sixth Form—featuring expert insights from John Philip (ALPS) and Lisa Keys (Pearson) to help you turn strategy into action, fast.

We asked participants whether they would recommend the 'End of KS2 Moderation' to colleagues & friends, and the consensus in the room was 'Yes!'. Thank you to everyone who attended - we hope it was beneficial and inspires those interested in becoming a writing moderator.
Important read from NCETM on EAL learners.
Explicit maths talk + structured routines are helping pupils build both language and number sense, with evidence of closing the disadvantage gap.
Highly relevant for contexts like Tower Hamlets.

A beneficial session focused on strengthening oracy and improving early years outcomes. Reflection on GLD data, interactions, and ShREC approach deepened understanding of communication practice.
Practical discussions on early language shared strategies to support children’s confidence and learning.
If we want to strengthen oracy, we should start with maths data. As Geoff Barton shared, early maths outcomes are a strong indicator of later life chances. Thank you to Geoff for the insight, and to Sandra Connington for a clear, practical update on the HR changes impacting schools.
If your senior meeting is mostly updates, it’s probably not strategic.
Start with:
What decision are we avoiding?
What will we stop?
Leadership isn’t about staying busy. It’s about choosing direction.
Busy isn’t strategy.
