Real-world geoengineering experiments revealed by UK agency Trials will test ways to block sunlight and slow climate crisis that threatens to trigger catastrophic tipping points

I've always been open about my belief that having +research on SRM is good, so to me the ARIA program is very welcome. Most of the funded research is about expanding our understanding of potential outcomes through modeling, obs and engagement. Yes, there are some outdoor scientific experiments:

Does anyone know of an all-methods-at-obce graphic for CDR that is as good as thos one for solar geoengineering by @srm360.bsky.social ?

That's true IF deploying solar geoengineering to keep temperatures at some level. However, it could still be useful in delaying warming even if CDR was impossible.

Could researching #SunlightReflectionMethods inadvertently reduce momentum for cutting emissions?

Mitigation displacement – also described as "moral hazard" – is one of the main critical objections to #SRM. How might society react?

This is the kind of question that SRM360 is here to answer.

Journalists, policymakers, the public have a lot of questions about SRM geoengineering, and the scientific literature addresses these, but it's very hard to penetrate.

SRM360.org aims to bridge this gap.

Could #SRM undermine emissions cuts?

This is one of the leading concerns around these ideas, and could fatally undermine it.

@srm360.bsky.social has explainers of this and other issues that SRM presents.

Stop emissions, stop warming: A climate reality check Why future warming isn't as "locked in" as you might think

On The Climate Brink: Stop emissions, stop warming: A climate reality check

This is a crucial point because it determines how much warming is already "locked in" and effectively unavoidable.

The answer is very little warming is locked in.
