friends, after days of me pushing this, we are stalled at $515. I really want to believe that we can do better for a migrant neighbor in need and in hiding in SE Michigan. $2000 seems to me a modest goal, but perhaps we could really try to get to $600 today?

Yesterday MPHA & affiliated nonprofit Community Housing Resources filed a combined 48 evictions. These alone represent 85% of Hennepin County filings & 57% of all statewide filings on 4/14/26.

Average of alleged overdue rent amounts: $628.
81% of the cases allege less than $1,000 in overdue rent.

I know people bristle at the idea of leftists who police language but a big reason it happens is because, especially as it relates to politicians, the language we choose serves as an entirely accurate predictor of the types of policy decisions we would make & who we would & wouldn’t place value on
