I googled tips for flash fiction structure but made the mistake of phrasing it "can you write..." so AI Overview happily spat out a pretty boring flash at the top of my search results. Not what I was looking for but it did make me feel better about about my own writing which is 10x more interesting.

The cover of WIFE SHAPED BODIES features many kinds of strangely colored and shaped fungi -- with a feminine face and hands worked into the unsettling mix.

Cover of The Ghastling magazine, Book 23 "Tales of Ghosts, The Macabre, and the Oh-So Strange". Against a mottled gray background, is a black and white drawing (or possibly block print) of a gargoyle sitting pensively, a red sun in the distance behind one wing.

At the bottom of the cover, the stories authors are listed, including yours truly, Allison Pottern at the from of the list!

See my name all tiny at the bottom! My Ashkenazi ghost story "Soul Candle, Living Light" found the perfect home in UK penny-dreadful-style mag The Ghastling alongside other spooky tales. Look at this gorgeous cover! And it's fully illustrated!

I just turned in a draft of my first review for ARB! I did it for the love of reading/reviewing but supporting @ancillaryreviewofbooks.org 's kickstarter will keep community-driven literary criticism alive and make it so they can compensate future writers and reviewers for their work!

There's has been a lot of discourse lately about reviews, especially for older and indie titles. NEW YEAR, NEW YOU, released in 2024, got lovely coverage from indie & mainstream reviewers alike. I wanted to highlight them again w/ a big THANK YOU 🧵

(and we're still happy to give out review copies!)

Interesting - I was at LBF and that wasn't what I saw, exactly. There is a lot of interest in litRPG, which some people *see* as romantasy-for-boys, but to be honest even that's dubious, if you look at who's lining up to get books signed at litRPG conventions.
