Calling out to other #DataLad users: At @oxcin.bsky.social we're thinking of replacing an XNAT instance that transfers data from our scanner and archives data with a service built on top of DataLad. Any thoughts or experiences people can share?

A systematic meta-analysis is hard work—and curation is often the hardest part. Y'all know this better than anyone, and we want to make it easier.
What’s one specific piece of information you consistently had to find or extract from every paper?

Ganjgahi et al. ‘AI-Driven Reclassification of Multiple Sclerosis Progression’. Nature Medicine, Nature Publishing Group, 20 August 2025, 1–11. doi.org/10.1038/s415....
Well known diagnostic labels (RRMS, SPMS, PPMS) do not explain these states, showing their limitations. This is an important contribution to developing more fully data-driven perspectives on MS disease heterogeneity.
This is a key output of the Oxford Big Data Institute-Novartis Collaboration for AI in Medicine. The paper represents a huge, collaborative effort, with replication done on data from another pharma company (Roche) and another large dataset (MS PATHS).

Epic work led by Habib Ganjgahi is out in Nature Medicine... data-driven clustering of MS finds 3 distinct states, early/mild, active, advanced, w/ transition to the advanced state only occuring through the active state... replicated twice!

This is a gem… really enjoyed reading about stats theory legend Gauss trudging across the countryside surveying.
Really nice study, and extends some of the ideas developed in this paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32673043/
For me, this work is a classic @ohbmofficial.bsky.social story: In 2023 I wasn't working with @bttyeo.bsky.social but I overheard him at his poster pointing to some accuracy curves saying "I don't why they have this particular shape". That kicked off the collab that led to these results.

AI performance is known to scale with logarithm of sample size (Kaplan 2020), but in many domains, sample size can be # participants or # measurements...

Wasn't aware of tinyplot... an overlay package to make base R graphics easier to use. While I use ggplot2 for some tasks there are many situations where I prefer base R plotting, and this tool will be super helpful in those seetings.
