Are Google trying to make Gmail unusable with irrelevant, nonsensical AI suggestions? Spending more time closing AI tosh down than dealing with the actual work. I don't need a summary of an email trail I kicked off.

Altman: You think AI is wasted energy? Try raising a human : OpenAI CEO takes really, really long view on energy efficiency

"Rather than raising age limits, governments should lean on tech firms to make their products safer for teens." Yeah, we can trust big tech to act responsibly. The @economist.com is so ridiculously naive at times.

I don't recall Apple asking China to scrap restrictions to its services there. Would-be Monopolist complaining about efforts to foster competition, and to build some defence against an unreliable trading partner, is not a good look.

Why the views of the anti-renewables crowd should be ridiculed for the idiocy they are. Any country unable to keep pace will be poorer and dependent on unreliable suppliers with unpredictable pricing that always has the ability to tank the economy. Better to tackle remaining challenges than carp.

China’s new bridge-forming barges offer new options for Taiwan invasion The ships can be linked up one behind the other to form a long, relocatable pier that extends from deeper waters nearly a kilometer out at sea onto a beach.

More good news for the world. China unveils barge bridges to facilitate amphibious military landing. I wonder what it is that so bothers them about a prosperous, technologically advanced, Mandarin speaking nation of 24m people able to choose their own leaders? www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/04...

No Microsoft, I do not want to download your Teams app. Whenever I download Microsoft anything it tries to take over default settings (search, links from emails, calls, etc) even though I do nothing to authorise this and actively seek to prevent it.
