I saw it from driving past, I’m guessing the on-ramps are in city owned land. There’s not many bike lanes that the new lanes can connect to

SANDAG recently released a report outlining a blueprint for how cities can implement quick build transit priority projects. Hope cities pay attention to it. The highest scoring corridor they recommend is Broadway.

Parking in Balboa Park is actually cheaper than parking in Torrey Pines State Park! I’ve never heard anyone complaining about that one though

If SANDAG wanted to be smart with its long term planning they’d buy a portion of Costa verde center before it gets developed to reserve for the the purple line/coaster station

A coaster extension to the border is pretty similar to the mid coast trolley extension. The majority of it follows existing rail (Coronado branch), with the major costs coming from a couple grade separations and a viaduct through imperial beach. Designed right its probably costs $5 billion or less

Not sure why the San Diego flyer shuttle is advertised for transit users when the rental car shuttle is faster and more frequent…

Not only that but the 101 shows up twice! Anyways on Apple devices if you press the same spot twice it’ll switch whether mts or nctd pops up.

Maybe it does, I though Sunday was 20 min frequencies instead of 15

Fun fact: routes 8 and 992 have higher weekend ridership even though they have less service!

If it rains too hard in San Diego the main central transfer station of the system (12th and imperial) and the access point to the only rail yard get flooded

This probably has the biggest impact on the orange line?

Not to mention the project paying for itself by having TOD on top!

If SANDAG had any foresight, they’d buy (part of) the Costa verde mall site asap. It’s their only way to build the UTC Coaster/Purple line station cut and cover instead of SEM tunneling. Cut and cover (probably) saves hundreds of millions, is faster, and ultimately leads to better station designs.

MTS staff are proposing a 2028 ballot measure rather than 2026 to allow for more time according to the 9/4 exec committee agenda. They will delay the fiscal cliff by shifting more capex funds to ops, raising fares, and other operational savings

There’s an interesting exhibit of old maps of San Diego in Geisel library at ucsd, it goes away this week if you’re interested! Downtown feels so much more connected to the city before freeways divided it

Irvine Company adding hundreds of apartments to University City office campus Southern California real estate giant plans to redo the western portion of its office campus — The Plaza — with two apartment buildings and 552 total units.

Cool to see the redevelopment, slight bummer that the direct connection to the executive dr trolley station will likely go away. The University community plan talks about extending the platform into a public plaza area, we’ll see what happens with that
