The porch is also above ground level, and the ferns are on stands off the floor, that will help keep them out of the freezing air. The freezing air will always be low, just how warm air always rises.
If you only get a few nights of a lite frost, and not a hard freeze, they should be okay if you move them over, so they are up against the house. The porch looks like it's south facing. The porch is sheltered, and the house will radiate some heat, as well as protect them from cold wind.
