Whether you are keen on our latest endeavours to visit space – or you find them frivolous given the ongoings down here, one takeaway is clear: Earth is all we have. We are all inextricably tied to one another and this place.
Happy Earth Day to every being that dwells here. 🌎

More than five years after the provincial government committed to implementing BC’s Old Growth Strategic Review, every member of the provincially-appointed Old Growth Technical Advisory Panel is saying the province is failing to protect some of the most at-risk and irreplaceable forests.
Join Wildsight conservation specialists Eddie Petryshen & Tim Chapman for an evening of community conversations about the future of our forests and watersheds, and how a community can help change their trajectories.

We are so grateful for the trust this community puts in us to protect the wild, and we don’t take that trust for granted. Our annual reports allow us to demonstrate how we use our supporters’ funds to create meaningful change for wildlife, rivers, forests and sustainable communities.

Take 2 minutes to tell Canada it's time to follow through on their promises to protect southern mountain caribou. secure.wildsight.ca/caribou
We are at a critical tipping point for this species, and the forests they call home. We can't afford to wait.
There are signs of improvement on water pollution from coal mining in B.C.’s Elk Valley. But with selenium concentrations still reaching 30 times BC’s aquatic safety limit, the problem isn’t solved; it is being managed less poorly than it has in the past.

It shouldn't take a lawsuit for the government to protect threatened species, but we don't have anymore time to waste.
Take 2 minutes to tell the government that caribou can't afford more delays.

Taking students outdoors fosters a love for the wild in deep and meaningful ways. Thank you to you, and Columbia Basin Trust REDi grants, Copernicus Education Products, the Province of British Columbia, Teck Trail and TD Friends of the Environment for making this program possible.

Ecojustice is representing Wildsight, Stand.earth and Wilderness Committee in this important case. Accountability shouldn't require a court room.
While the recently released report from PFAC includes some positive recommendations, it does not confront the political barriers that continue to undermine forest protection, ecosystem health and public confidence.

Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep survive winter in part through their highly calculated habitat selection.
Mountain Goats favour steep, wind-scoured ridges and sunny south-facing cliffs where snow accumulation is minimal and escape terrain is close at hand.

It's a tale of two elevations. While the alpine snowpack was above normal for almost all parts of the Kootenay-Columbia region on Jan 1, valley bottoms tell a very different story — one that points to a warmer, riskier future for our region.

BC’s current forestry model is about simplifying complex forest ecosystems — meaning our processes and cut levels are founded on replacing most or all old and primary forest in the timber harvesting landbase with ‘managed’ forest.

It's simple. No new mines or expansions should be approved in the Elk Valley until Elk Valley Resources has proven it's dealt with existing pollution.

You can replant trees, but you can’t fast-forward forests. Old growth is not a renewable resource.

Here in BC, one of the most effective nature-based climate actions we could take would be to protect old-growth forests.

At our annual all-staff gathering a few months ago, we asked some of our colleagues a simple question: what motivates you to stand up for the wild?
