Republicans introduce extreme bill to ban lawsuits against Big Oil forever Shouldn't Democrats... be saying something about this?

Ted Cruz is the #1 lifetime recipient of fossil fuel money in the entire U.S. senate, receiving over $1 million from the oil and gas industry in the 2024 cycle alone

Now he's proposed a bill to give the fossil fuel industry lifetime legal immunity from climate lawsuits

That's the Georgia Women's Tennis Team? Why are they all wearing black suits? And all men? I thought trump said he was keeping men out of women's sports?

Oh, wait, are there some women behind them?

They paused Oversight Committee hearings the minute we started getting answers about the Epstein files.

Now it’s “roundtables”: no rules, no oaths, no subpoenas.

You do the math. Because the moment accountability shows up, they shut it down. The survivors deserve better.

I won't even open the new version now, I'm sticking with the old one while I experiment with alternatives - Affinity, Clip Studio, Painter, Rebelle. Hopefully once I get past the learning curve, one of those will be an effective replacement, and I can finally shitcan Adobe. 4/4

I still have a previous version of PS installed, so I opened that up and tried the same thing on the same file, and *that* Content Aware Fill worked a dream. Tried this multiple times now w/ same results, so it's clear they fucked Content Aware Fill in order to force us to use Generative Fill. 3/4

Recently they added "Generative Fill," which does similar things, but using "AI." And they're trying to force you to use it by making Content Aware Fill worse. Using Content Aware fill now turns out garbage. So... 2/4

"AI" enshittification in action. Adobe PS has for years had a function called "Context Aware Fill," where if, say, a client decides to change the aspect ratio of a piece, you could add a half inch to each side, or top and bottom, without cloning or painting out to expand it. 1/4

These pathetic losers are just flailing at this point. I'm so sick of these MFs pretending we're living in an SF movie, and trying to convince us that an expanded type-ahead program is a sentient being. They can fuck all the way off, and take their clankers with them.

Don't let anyone talk you out of spending $15 on a new hobby. That $50 will be the best $400 you ever spent.

This is not wrong.

Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—

AOC: Wah wah wah.

We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no.

What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

the final cover of In the Devil Wind

the final cover of In the Devil Wind

That's it. The final changes and corrections to IN THE DEVIL WIND have gone back to my publisher. Of course I found things I want to rewrite because I always do. But it's too late, so you're going to have to suffer through my inadequacies. Thanks for sticking around for all of Stark's adventures.

The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

Illinois made history as the first state to outlaw book bans once and for all.

Marginalizing people, ideas, or facts has no place in our state — and they have no place in a democracy.

The one I got last week cited my brilliant portrayal of characters, mentioning two by name who do not appear in the book it was referring to, or any of my published works. Guess I'm too small time for the pro level scams that now get these things right.

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

A jury has ruled that Live Nation-Ticketmaster is an illegal monopoly.

A judge will determine whether or not to break the company up, in addition to other damages.

This is a big deal.

Remember that the Trump admin tried to settle the lawsuit with a slap on the wrist — but state AGs said no way.

AI Use Appears to Have a "Boiling Frog" Effect on Human Cognition, New Study Warns A new study claims to offer the first causal link between AI dependency and cognitive erosion. Researchers warn of long-term implications.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.

"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”

So the big studios are abandoning the US and turning the staff workers into contractors to get out paying for healthcare.

The United States is losing one of its defining industries because of not having universal healthcare and the people are going to be even more vulnerable to the industry.
