Well, it sounded like you didn't want to spend the money on a whole new motherboard and were trying to get the best deal available. I recommended to my kid to get a 5900X, as gaming performance is quite close, and the fact that the X3D is US$439 vs US$226 for the 5900X right now. ๐Ÿ™€

I was just looking into this for my teenager, as he has an AM4 B450 motherboard, and was wanting to upgrade from his 3600X. The MSI site showed me that it will take pretty much any CPU for the socket, up to the new (for a seven year old socket) 5900XT. Did you want the X3D for a specific reason?
