Blue tit on the rose bush, aphids picked clean away, tidy in their work, cobalt and yellow uniform smart and prim. Every tender, minute bag of sugars, protein, stolen sap, stripped and put to good use; somewhere, a day-old mouth opens, small as a clip in a bus-ticket. #birds

Everything does seem to have gone from nought to sixty rather, doesn't it! Gosh having willow warblers turn up really is a treat - I was just thinking the other day I've not heard one around here for years.

๐Ÿ˜‚ Oh dear. I mean, I suppose a horse might think it was a snake? Maybe?

๐Ÿ˜€ Hehe - so cute. And lovely footage. Our sparrows, of all things, decided to use pampas grass last year. I really wasn't sure what they were implying...

As you say, hopefully a crowdfunder, or international petition at least, could follow such a legal challenge. I'd love to visit Iceland, but I will simply never go until whaling stops. I'd also think their ecotourism companies could collaborate to bring action re damaging business interests.

That's lovely, Jane. I hope it roots and grows in its quieter spot. ๐Ÿ’š

I agree with you, Ulla. And this overrepresentation goes back years before anyone was voting for them. Constantly featuring certain individuals on shows when they hadn't even formed a party as such. They have much to answer for in normalising these people. And what will come next.

My friend's horse had a fundamental belief that potholes ate horses. Also plastic bags. It's so weird the things they decide to be spooky about!

Ahh, maybe he was just really pleased and excited to see them. ๐Ÿ˜€ Like, it's not even as if other birds aren't that sudden and zippy, eh?

This sounds marvellous! Will it be recorded at all? I'm hopefully going on a nightingale walk that evening, or I'd be at my desk sharpish! ๐Ÿคž

Crumbs, that might have to join my list of birds that look like they were designed by Jim Henson! ๐Ÿ˜

Wonderful find - thanks very much for sharing it, Queen of Spades! (You might now also be Queen of Diggers, eh...)

Hehe - perhaps they'd limp down to the Nile and drink lotus-spiked wine through a straw. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sadly, I've not seen them in Egypt, Martin, that I recall - but they really should restart the industry! They'd make lovely souvenirs - far nicer than a plastic/resin made in China Tut's mask!

That's so cool, Ben. And Ancient Egyptians wore toe socks, too. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿงฆ

Amen to that - so true, and beautifully put, James. Was only thinking today how the blackcap is lacking here this year. Not sure why. Chiffs a-plenty though, and mistle thrushes, and blackbirds.

This calls very desperately for experimental archaeology. How durable were they? Were they comfy? How long did they take to make, and what was their relative trade-value? Did one shop for shoes, or make them at home? All these are vital research questions, if you're a flip-flopaholic! #Egyptology
