Yeah maybe also the font defaults?
Great post, perfectly encapsulates something I don't see enough people taking about: these models are just not great at considering the ergonomics of the software they're writing
Something about the general ui
Why does it always feel easier to catch up with any given slack than any given discord?
I mention it in the post, but I strongly encourage everyone to watch @mariozechner.at's talk www.youtube.com/live/_zdroS0...
Is there anything online on this? This is a great observation
Something I’ve noticed about unchecked LLM code is that it’s not sensitive to pain the same way that human code is. Aka LLMs will implement whatever you want and offer localized exceptions for methods but not consider the larger context of where things can break
“The best engineering is always borne of constraints, and the constraint of our time places limits on the cognitive load of the system that we’re willing to accept. “
Watching Google valiantly try to move quickly as a big organization and almost get there but then still having at least 4-5 completely separate ways to access Gemini convinces me that corporate politics will always be the biggest moat
Makes sense
Say more about the second?
What do you find interesting about that?
This is what the labs are saying, I don’t know what they themselves mean by it, most likely that humans don’t need to write code anymore
Genuine question: how to interpret large acquisitions of software companies and talent by AI labs while they say coding is “largely solved”? Is it only hype? Do they mean that it’s solved by them aggregating talent and tools?
🚀
Is there a related blog post? Would love to read more!
What are you doing next Friday and/or Sat? Want to see what data scientists are doing with AI/ML these days? There are still tickets available for our conference in Charlottesville!
And we have some awesome keynote speakers: David Luebke (NVIDIA) & @vickiboykis.com!

come step into my dungeon-lair, there lives a giant basilisk but DO NOT LOOK AT THE BASILISK. But it’s super dope though, half snake, half beast, but DONT LOOK AT IT, but it’s got magical powers, it can turn substances to gold BUT DONT LOOK
That was my sense as well :(
Viable tho 😭
What would the practical impact be for a proprietary codebase that deploys into a cloud environment?
Are there any genuinely viable alternatives to CI/CD outside of GitHub and actions at the moment? astral.sh/blog/open-so...
BIG NEWS. I've sold out. Let me know how you feel about this in the comments below.
