Can someone on #gamedev explain to me why someone hasn't made a homebrew game engine for people to use based off of Devkitpro and it's tools? Yes I'm aware that game engine development is a very big task, but I'm surprised nobody has attempted to make something like this. (From what I've found)

8 years ago, an idea popped up and I started this as a prototype using pre-rendered character, by the time I learned 3D and animation, and found a way to import 3D models into Doom.

I'm lucky enough to be in a magnet program in my highschool, our senior project is to develop a full game, market it, and release it. And me and my group get to keep all the money we make off the game. It's definitely a good program, but I really wish they taught us how to use github lmao
There are tons of tutorials for Godot, and a large community to help you with ideas and implementing them. Start small, and grow as time goes on
Over time you'll slowly find yourself coming up with ideas for this world you're making, what are the goals? Potential side quests? How is the main character involved in the beginning? Once you have a decent amount of story and game mechanics you wanna use, try to implement them into a project
I wouldn't recommend just starting a new project and messing around, create a game design document, Just joy down ideas for a story first. Which idea sounds good? How can you add little bits to an idea you like? How can you add characters to your story to flesh it out?
