Imagine how good the codices and army books we're getting *today* would be, if the designers had a decade of experience with the core rules rather than three years.

I mean yeah the same thing was true of 9th going into 8th. Though 8th edition was the opposite of sterile, with all the insane stacking minuses and pluses to hit. 9th was when they really hit their stride with the old ruleset, which is why I think it's a shame that 10th was another grand reset.

The game is still fun. I'm seemingly one of the only people who thinks the game doesn't need to become alternating activations, I think the phased turn sequence is fine. I think it'd be funny if we had double turns like in AoS though.

Sterilized, is the word I'd use. Everything's very sterilized and prescriptive in its design. There's very little room for experimentation. And despite 10th being the most well externally balanced edition probably ever, the internal balance of these codices are a fucking mess.

Army rules used to be complex and multifaceted, the old Martial Ka'tah rules for Custodes were so sick and flavorful and mechanically complex, and now it's just... Fucking giving a melee weapon an extra keyword when a unit fights. But the armies themselves are still fun, just with less sauce.

been playing a lot of 10th edition just to get a better feel for the edition before it goes away. It's both a lot more fun than I remember it being but also still has many of the same problems I remember it having. Every faction's rules are like 30%-40% less cool than they were in 9th edition.

Here's some pics I took before I stripped them. None of them are close-ups and these are all after they went through a bath in a sonic cleaner but I think you can still tell the level of damage the original owner put them through.

He seemingly primed them, painted them purple, decided he didn't like it, primed them again, painted them green, all without ever thinning his fucking paints and while applying the primer super thickly. If I told you the kinds of shit I've had to do to get these gals back up to a paintable state...

someone at my FLGS gave me their small Sisters collection because they had fucked it up so badly that he no longer wanted to paint the army, and the level of which these Sisters were put through the fucking spin cycle by this guy strains fucking credulity. Like this should be a fucking crime.

But nope! He's just back, no need for an explanation, he just *is,* and with an... extremely by the numbers remake of his previous model. I feel like GW is just expecting me to clap like a seal because OMG THE THING LOOKS LIKE THE THING I RECOGNIZE!!!!

Instead, he's... Just kinda back like it never happened? No word on how he died, how he survived, etc. This feels like an actual honest to god retcon in a way that 40k very rarely does. I would have liked to see him come back with a bit more fanfare.

Is it weird that I'm kind of disappointed in the new Yarrick model? Like, I dunno. We knew for a long time that Yarrick was dead and for years people were theorizing that when, not if but when, Yarrick came back, he'd be some kind of Living Saint akin to Celestine but for the Guard. That'd be cool.

my first time getting back behind the camera in a very long time with a new mic, and the audio ended up being a bit scuffed. There'll be some growing pains as I exit my hiatus but fear naught, I shall soon have a video out discussing some of the more cataclysmic recent Age of Sigmar leaks.

Don't worry guys, this is by far our most hinged episode and it only gets worse from here.

me at the game store actually for real getting loudly scolded by an old guy convinced I was getting a rule wrong (he was the one getting the rule wrong) (he wasn't even playing)

I can tell I'm starting to pass because old men at the game store explain my own army's rules to me like I'm five and also getting it wrong.

yeah once I heard "the codices in 10th are going to be valid going into 11th" I knew I just had to ditch my Custodes and I'm gonna pivot into my secondary army, Craftworld Eldar, because their codex is like... y'know... actually good? My poor Custodes were so good in 9th, wtf happened?

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

The reason why this has happened is because Custodes have been very underpowered all edition, and GW's only solution has been to gradually decrease their points.

3 weeks ago 4 0 2 0

On a whim I decided to see how many points my Custodes collection is. My Custodes collection which was around 2.2k points back in late 9th edition and hovered around 2k-2.2k points throughout 10th edition, is now at the end of the edition 1,880 points if I take all three enhancements. What the fuck?

3 weeks ago 4 0 1 0

I no longer have 2k points in any 40k armies. Not because I've sold off large amounts of my collection (though believe me at this point I'm fucking about to) but rather because 40k's army sizes have slowly but steadily crept up and up and up until now.

though I'm also of two minds on the subject because on the other hand, the Imperium *are* ethnosupremacist palingenetic ultranationalists who heavily utilize ancient roman iconography, so the nazi comparison is hardly unfounded.

3 weeks ago 4 0 1 0

yeah the regiment being aesthetically based on WW2 Fallschirmjager and also using a neo-nazi organization's symbol as their icon gives the Death Korps of Krieg a run for their money as the "looking a bit uncomfortably like Nazis" regiment of Imperial Guard.

Ah yes. The podcast where I show Serena movies about antisemitism and Serena... *checks notes* also shows me movies about antisemitism, but like from the other angle.
