Some games, Tristan Luneau looks like a sure-fire NHL top four defenseman. Other games, he looks like a third pairing/PP specialist type. Needs to find consistency on his breakouts at 5v5 to hit his potential.

Leo Carlsson's decisions with the puck have been a bit better of late. Used to get bad tunnel vision on entry, trying to dangle through multiple defenders. Doing a better job now of scanning for options and punting if he has to. Some mistakes cropping up still, but that's progress.

Zegras has done a better job of attacking middle ice off the rush in the last 3 games. He swoops into the middle and then tries to find either a trailer or a man driving to the net. The issue is that his ability to create off the wall is significantly weaker. Get him back at center.

McTavish has looked noticeably slower the last 3 games. Wonder if it's an injury cropping up or the grind of the season. Either way, wondering a bit if he has the skating ability to be a 2C on a contending team.

Another big game in the standings for Anaheim where they come up well short. Just not generating nearly enough offense, and the defense remains porous.

The IQ seems to be catching up to the physical abilities. It's fun to see.

It's not just that the Capitals made the Ducks pay for their mistakes. They also baited them into mistakes with constant movement away from the puck, leading to numerous breakdowns.

The gap between the Ducks and Capitals could not have felt any wider tonight. The Ducks had maybe 6 good shifts? And each time they made a mistake, the Capitals were quick to capitalize.

Close game, but a bad loss from the Ducks last night. Just couldn't generate much in the way of dangerous offense, and now their playoff hopes are essentially extinguished.
