Fwiw the Orthodox Churches still do this, stand during Easter - and they make up for it by kneeling for a good portion of the Pentecost service. It’s not an issue for Orthodox tho b/c Liturgy of St John Chrysostom used by most Orthodox churches doesn’t have a general confession.
