AI-Generated Interview With One Piece Actor Published By Esquire Esquire Singapore opted to run the Zoro actor's previous interviews through Copilot and Claude, as Mackenyu couldn't attend an in-person chat

When you publish an interview with AI Dario Amodei (acknowledging why you did it), form and content blend in a way that makes sense. When you fabricate an AI-generated interview with a pop star because schedules clash, good luck with that. Authenticity is still the name of the game.

In Times of Trouble, the Maya Rejected Divine Kingship. This Newly Discovered Public Building Reveals How the Transition to Shared Power Unfolded Archaeologists in northern Guatemala unearthed a colonnaded open hall that may have served as a council house, where local leaders and everyday people met to discuss political issues

‘The Terminal Classic period ushered in a more “collaborative, consensus-based” form of government… Under Papmalil and other rulers of this era, everyday people in the southern Maya lowlands gained a voice in their community, with individual kings no longer ruling over city-states unchecked.’

I would like to take ex ception to the underlying as sumption of the “Friedman doctrine” (“The Social Respon sibility of Business Is to In crease Its Profits,” by Milton Friedman, Sept. 13) that the only demand upon the busi nessman by the stockholder “generally will be to make as much money as possible. . . .”

I speak not only as an in vestor in American corpora tions, but also as a “stock holder” in other institutions: my Government, my commu nity, my family, my society. As multiple stockholders, we all make complex and some times conflicting demands upon these institutions. When we demand that automobiles be designed so as not to foul the air, we are weighing a 1 per cent reduction in corpo rate profits against a 10 per cent increase in the cost of remaining healthy. When we applaud efforts to hire the “hard ‐ core unemployed,” we are mindful as much of the staggering economic and social costs of welfare and urban renewal as we are of the hor rifying plight of many of these individuals. Stockholders seek not to incapacitate the corpo rate mechanism, but to maxi mize our over ‐ all economic and social portfolio. This I do not believe to be “pure un adulterated socialism.”

In September 1970, Milton Friedman wrote an article for the New York Times laying out his "Friedman Doctrine" for corporations, his usual Gordon Gekko fare by now. What is striking is this rebuttal in the Letters section by one Timothy Mellon, who would become a major Trump 2 donor.

The tragedy of Instructure “is that the thing its founders were guarding against from the very beginning, the corruption of design by capital, did eventually happen.
And on a scale they could not possibly have imagined at BYU in 2008, because the gravitational pull of finance changed so radically.”
