In 2025 we awarded a grant to @crookston.bsky.social to carry out a community geophys survey of Crookston Castle supported by the geophys team of HES. We found not just some great archaeology but also a local area keen to learn more about "their" castle: castlestudiestrust.org/blog/2026/04...
When we first decided to carry out a geophysical survey at Crookston Castle, none of us thought we’d be rewriting history.

Happy Easter 🐣
We had a great day in the snow then then sun for our first ever Easter Eggventure!
We’re still going with our Easter, but with a new time of 1pm–3pm to avoid the worst of the weather.
Please dress for the conditions and we’ll aim for a fun day whatever the forecast!
Thanks as always for your support.

What do you love about Crookston Castle?
Is it the history, the view from the top? Childhood memories of visiting? A peaceful place to walk, or a favourite photo spot?
Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.
A huge thank you to the 11 volunteers who came along to our litter pick, helping clear the hillside, Castle path, neighbouring streets, and the grass verges along Brockburn Road.
Days like this really help keep the area looking its best for everyone who lives nearby and those who comes to visit.

Happy St Andrew’s Day! 🏴
Our national day is a reminder of how Scotland’s heritage can bring people together. At Crookston Castle we see that every week, as the community comes together to share and celebrate our shared connections, history and future.
To celebrate #BookWeekScotland
children’s author Marion Husband visited the Castle for a wonderful storytelling session with the wee ones from nearby Lyoncross Nursery.

We had a brilliant time at the Collection Medieval Day!
Our stall was busy all day helping visitors design their very own coats of arms, taking inspiration from the incredible art and armour on display in the museum.
