Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this year‘s cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

New paper alert! The amygdala is key to emotional, social & appetitive behavior— but how do its subregions develop in preadolescence? In ~4,000 youth, we found:
🧠 Age → near-global amygdala expansion
🧬 Sex differences in apportionment
⚖️ Higher BMIz → smaller basolateral subregions
What a vibrant collection! Love the scope and depth it was created with… How fortunate for your students!!!! 🙏

If you have an empty spot at your Thanksgiving table due to an unfortunate suicide- you may appreciate this perspective that investigates suicide as a societal issue. What types of questions does that premise raise? More importantly- how do solutions differ? #Suicide-prevention #Societal-health
Thanks for sharing, Martin! 🙏
Our long didactic paper on #network analysis, written with many of the amazing scientists that work in the field is finally out in IJMPR and open access ! It was a long and collaborative effort two years in the making, but, it was worth it! Please repost onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
