I have no idea whatβs going to happen next.
That uncertainty turns out to be more useful than clarity.

Wow - curiously proud of this! I know I sent a lot of audio files this year but....Jeez!
I love watching the skies over Manchester changing across the day from my loft hidey-hole. I can just about see the hills on a clear day...but not today.
The perfect kind of day for scoping out a new piece of music about apocalypse messaging!
πβ¨ My Christmas Character Showreel is live! Featuring Mrs Claus, cheeky elves, and a reindeer with sinus problems.
Perfect if you need a sprinkle of festive magic (or just fancy a laugh).

Vimto with Bacardi and a splash of lemon juice smells EXACTLY like Baileyβs.
Thatβs all Iβve got to offer.
Excited to share Virtually Me β my new book with Bosky Publishing! It's now available for Pre-Order.
It helps tweens and teens explore mindful digital life through fun, creative prompts + real-world questions about tech, social media + AI. πβ¨
I *loved* writing it!
Yes, that was my understanding too. And weβd grown the audience - especially in the north. But we just didnβt have enough staff. Gutting. That said, the show will doubtless be brilliant.
Production of the show moved from Salford to London. The show now comes from Broadcasting House - more producers, more studio managers. The show is in v safe hands with another brilliant teamβ¦but Iβm gutted nevertheless!
It's International Podcast Day! What better time to celebrate with my pods - interviews, comedy, stories and more! Before The Bar Opens, Clearing The Air, Dodgy Voiceover Direction, The Title Track, When We Got To The Seventh, and Who Do You Think I Am?Β

I have to say, I'm weary of The Algorithm.Β
I'm seeing lots of stuff about crafting social media updates that will please The Algorithm with the hope it might reward us with visibility.Β
Honestly, I just want to do my work and share bits of it along the way in a way that reflects who I am.
A different kind of day today. I'm in Manchester City Centre working in a converted mill. Such a beautiful space.
It's a mixed bag today in the studio at Clarke Gables! I'm kicking off this morning with character voices for a much-loved children's animation title (will tell you all about it when I can), and this afternoon I'm voicing ads for a luxury vehicle manufacturer. Va-va-vrooom!
Well this is novel isn't it? I don't have to be in bed at 8 o'clock to get up at 3.30 am to do a Saturday Breakfast show! So I'm going to have a massive takeaway...then I'm going to watch a film. Tomorrow, I'll be up at a normal time to clean my house...while listening to Radio 3!
Had my PhD review today at @rncmlive.bsky.social! I'm now past the halfway point! Trying to savour every moment. Doing my PhD is such a precious, wonderful experience.
This afternoon we're recording the music with the brilliant baroque flautist Daniel Lappin, and the little dramatic scenes with a bunch of actors. I can't wait to put the soundscapes together!
Today I'm working at RNCM - Royal Northern College of Music on a project with National Trust. I've composed some music for an immersive visitor experience for a historic property.

A bit of an update.
Just finished the running order for tomorrow's Saturday's Breakfast show on BBC Radio 3.Β
Wake up to Handel, Hildegard, Vivaldi, Grainger, Sibelius, Saint-SaΓ«ns, a gorgeous piece by Yoshimatsu - and much more!
Join me, 6.30 - 9...and I have a special announcement!
Big week ahead: starting a music project for a historic property πΆ, finalising a Christmas campaign with a playful character voice π, and my first PhD supervision of the year π. Plus a little announcement at the end of the week. Lots to look forward to!

Just recorded some Hallowe'en promos for The Walt Disney Company - genuinely scary!
