1990s culture wars: We’re cancelling the Enola Gay exhibit bc veterans and historians can’t agree whether we should celebrate its role in ending WWII or critically assess the decision to use nuclear weapons

This is going to make Randy Moss torching the cowboys for 3 TDs look like a hugfest
If they fire nico this week, do you think there is a chance Luka would re-sign with the Mavs when his contract is up?
So good from Bob. I was a team of this fan when it was single digit wins for the season bad, Shawn Bradley as the centerpiece bad. I am no longer a fan of this franchise and never will be again. Nico can eat a bag of dicks for what he ahs done.
“For many, it seems they went from being an important part of people’s lives to just a basketball franchise that happens to exist inside the city limits.”Bob says it all so well. I will not move on. bobsturm.substack.com/p/the-case-a...
Fuck Nico Harrison
Jesuit Priest 👇🏽
Ah, the millennial experience of “every time you get some measure of financial and career stability, the world decides to do something extraordinarily stupid again”
Elon Musk's mother moved to South Africa in the year Apartheid was created, and she and Elon left the year it ended. The last Apartheid Prime Minister, a man who refused to testify at the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, was a family friend who stayed at their home. This is not a crazy theory.
“the Red Sox actually got pretty good value for Ruth”

Hmmmm, seems like a missed opportunity
I think we can all agree that the definition of limited conservative government is when an unelected billionaire interferes at every level and juncture
Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.
I always feel strange doing this sort of thing but Defector.com has had an incredible January, just a ton of really good stories on a wide range of topics, and I suggest subscribing to it. I am biased, obviously, but I am really proud and grateful to get to do this the way we're doing it.
As a father of five kids, I totally agree with this evergreen post.
Been seeing a lot more “if AI isn’t the greatest thing ever, it’s bc you aren’t using it right. Dummy.” Oddly, this is coming from the makers of AI
Did your child lose their book collection in the Los Angeles fires? Are you a teacher at a school that lost its library or your classroom library? Whether you need one book or a whole library, we can replace your books. 📚
Everyone else, please boost this post so we can connect with those in need. 🙏
The facts are, the ACA saved millions with pre-existing conditions and set standards for care.
But now, more than a decade later, with what we now know, it’s time to take the insurance companies out of the mix.
The subsidies they get are enormous. We don’t need them as middlemen.

It's useful to think of NYT as a cult that worships power, influence & the status quo. They will normalize anything as long as it allows them to retain their position. The institution selects for people who share this perspective. Chomsky isn't always right but he was right on this.
GQ asked me for a New Year’s Resolution and this is what i cam up with: I’m done optimizing www.gq.com/story/im-don...
The question of “why would a tech big shot want to work 80 hours a week, unpaid, on this?” is one with a pretty obvious answer yet I don’t see many news outlets highlighting it. If altruism was any kind of motivation, then we’d have seen one iota of that spirit before now.
How it started. How it’s going
It's one thing to fetishize the founders -- an approach the founders themselves discouraged! -- but it's something else to fetishize the founders *and* insist they said things they actually never said.
Really bizarre.
A John Wick movie where he assassinates everyone shooting off fireworks in a residential area because they upset his dog.
