Wrote up some thoughts on Anthropic's Project Glassing, where their latest Opus-beating model is available to partnered security research organizations only. Given the recent alarm bells raised by credible security voices I think this is a justified decision.

Sorry to advertise myself. I have a patreon where patrons vote on video topics and get a bonus video a month. Sometimes that video ends up on YouTube sometimes not.
We are also doing a livestream bookclub in ~3 weeks. We are reading The Left Hand of Darkness.

Found this out and now it’s bookmarked. A dose of nostalgia at the touch of a button. You’re welcome.

Christina Koch’s journey included helping build and test an APL science instrument now at Jupiter and a record-setting 328-day mission in space. As Artemis II launches, revisit her path from APL engineer to astronaut: https://jhuapl.link/sio
On behalf of the Flight Software Workshop 2026 Organizing Committee, we thank you for attending and making the workshop a great place to learn and exchange ideas.

Reminds me of the Squeezeboxes I had back in the day. I loved those things.
The planet Saturn is clearly banded in this infrared view, and its rings are glowing. The small bright point at lower left of the planet is the icy satellite Dione. The background is pitch black.
This new #JWST image of Saturn is AWESOME
Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, was discovered on March 25, 1655, by Christiaan Huygens. More than 350 years later, it remains a key target for exploration. Launching in 2028, NASA’s Dragonfly mission will investigate the complex chemistry of this ocean world. https://dragonfly.jhuapl.edu/Why-Titan

Good morning! @flightsoftware.org
Fun story, when I went to USAF OTS (in Montgomery, AL) I figured I'd road trip to my first base. I had plenty of west coast, Colorado, etc. bases on my dream sheet and was looking forward to the drive. I got Ramstein in Germany. (I didn't complain...)
Tampa, FL to Dayton, OH in one day (~15 hrs). Quite a few Dayton to AR trips (~9 hrs?). Several 2-day drives from MD to AR. (~15 hrs of driving time, but not doing that straight through with a baby...)

What an incredible + RARE sky around 8:30a.
These photos by Chris Hager and Luke Fisher show super impressive display of atmospheric optics, including bright sun dogs on either side of the sun along with halos and arcs above. They form as sunlight passes thru ice crystals in high clouds.
Go Dragonfly!

Composite image of NGC 1068 based on Hubble Space Telescope images from our project, created by Judy Schmidt. The heart of a spiral galaxy is centered in the frame with brown winding dust lanes sprinkled with blue regions of recent star formation. Some small red galaxies are visible in the background.

New paper day! In an effort led by PhD student Madison Markham, we determined the first accurate and precise distances to two famous AGN host galaxies: NGC 1068 and NGC 4303. Using the Hubble Space Telescope, we identified Cepheid pulsating stars and measured their pulsation periods and mags 🔭🧪(1/2)

as an amateur model-watcher, thanks for all your hard work!
Short musings on "cognitive debt" - I'm seeing this in my own work, where excessive unreviewed AI-generated code leads me to lose a firm mental model of what I've built, which then makes it harder to confidently make future decisions simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/15/...
The Japanese game music performance group "Fantom Iris" is a four-member band, but drummer Yamaoh frequently appears on social media
Today they're performing "Free Flyer" from NEMESIS (known in Japan as GRADIUS)
Everyone, enjoy watching!
Yamaoh from Fantom Iris will be playing the drums. The song is the classic "VAMPIRE KILLER" from Castlevania. Enjoy, everyone!
Fantom Iris drummer Yamaoh will perform the classic song "Power of Anger" used in Stage 1 of LIFE FORCE.
In Japan, it's famous under the title "Salamander(沙羅曼蛇)"
Have a great day, everyone!
Looks like some interesting papers at SpaceSec this year. (A workshop at NDSS) Sorry I couldn’t make it!
