Yesterday was an interesting 1st day of UNISON’s Women’s Conference.
The anti-trans protesters came. And left pretty soon afterwards.
Then in conference, women members voted unopposed to support trans inclusion, reinforcing their commitment to embracing trans women.

This is great, I'll use it inform some Clinical Scientist teaching that I'm preparing...
I recently completed a clinical education dissertation that asked members of the #transgender, #nonbinary and gender non-conforming community what they wanted doctors to know about their healthcare. I then carried out a thematic analysis to identify 15 main themes (1/18)
In my experience working with Alison, she has included the voices of trans and non-binary member of the public in both consultative and leadership roles. (7/7)
Alison is the president of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS), the first president who worked in a field other the transition healthcare. Part of her role has been representing the interests of trans people to the NHS and the government. (6/7) bagis.co.uk/bagis-council/
Alison has been running the SELF-TI study to understand human papilloma virus in the trans population, a virus associated with various cancer. (5/7) www.self-ti.com
Alison has been working with OUTPatients, the LGBTQ+ cancer charity, to improve cancer care for trans people. She has written and spoken extensively to teach other health care professional how to care for trans people with cancer. (4/7) outpatients.org.uk
Alison is a cancer doctor, and the lead clinician in the UK Cancer and Transition Service, which helps local cancer departments to care for trans and gender diverse people with cancer. (3/7) www.wearetransplus.co.uk/uk-cancer-an...
Because she is not a public figure like some of the other nominees, I think she deserves some publicity to make sure you know what she's been doing for the trans community. (2/7)
My pitch for why you should vote for Alison Berner as WTT Ally of the Year: She is a health care professional working to include trans & NB people in every part of the health care system, not just a segregated, under-resourced subset. I work with her, so I'm 100% partisan. More about her work (1/7)
