Hegseth: "Iran should be an energy-rich country. Instead, like so many other places driven by a radical ideology, they've spend that money, instead of investing in their people. That's why you had millions of Iranians protesting."

And why should France help someone who's never been to France ? When do you stop citizenship. And again it's easy.. if they want to keep a link to the country and integrate the national solidarity they can register at the consulate and pay a small fee.

And let's not forget also that those people spend a lot of time promoting a country that's based on modern slavery. And they don't criticize it. Just the Dubai is very safe is cringe when you learn about woman not able to press charges when they are raped

And you're right. It's a moral issue. And therefore it is highly subjective and can be discussed. We just don't have the same view on what morality entails and what is more important between birth rights and equality in front of taxes...

Because when a citizen leaves a country to avoid paying tax, they should not beneficiate the advantages of taxes.

I was looking for the name. Tax avoidance is a moral issue.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

Do you seriously not see the moral issue of having people leave the country because they don't want to pay taxes but still want to have the advantage of the solidarity given by taxes ?

Or health issue. Or complain when they can't validate their semester for retirement. Again butter, money of the butter.

Some of those people are the worst entitled people you can ever meet.

And FYI I've lived as an expat for 15 years in my 40 year life (not in a row). In all those years we always had a link to France and paid taxes there.
And I see all the French here living in The US while trashing France for the tax. Except that they are happy to go back when they have kids...

Again why ?

But why fundamentally should citizenship not linked to taxes ?

And there's a very easy way to see that. If you are a citizen that wants to keep link with your home country, you at least register in the consulate so that you can still participate to the life of the country by voting for example.

This is where it would be easy to ask for a fee

And sorry but I don't agree. When you live a country completely because you don't want to pay taxes that kind of diminish the citizenship aspect. You can be an expat and still keep strong financial link to your home country (which is what an expat here).

Is this a law of physics that can never be changed ? Taxes could be in part linked to nationality.

If a gvt needs to cut expanses what do you prefer? Cutting help to a rmfew rich expats or cutting help to Brits in the country.

And yet we all know that some people have more easy access to those services than other.

1 month ago 0 0 0 0

Yeah. It's call paying taxes, contributing to the society and solidarity between cocitizen. Something they decided to escape by moving in Dubai.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

Yes. But if they want to get evacuated they should be registered in the consulate at a fee.

I'm actually binatiinal. I also have Swiss citizenship. I'm not register in the consulate, pay no tax there. I'm not expecting Switzerland to get me out of here if things get bad.
