A screenshot of a Verge quickpost reading: "PSA: I am not Sam Altman’s sister. But apparently when you write a story about something, sometimes your profile photo comes up in the image search results for it, and a major X account doesn’t bother clicking through to figure that out." Followed by a tweet of X account Coinvo posting a picture of author Hayden Field (who is not Sam Altman's sister) in a post about Sam Altman's sister filing a sexual abuse lawsuit against him.

The loss of 22 episode seasons means we're losing out on the time honored tradition of "episode in which recurring character is suddenly turned evil via MacGuffin and now the actor gets to have fun"
It’s just not the same!
Also, I’m still mad about System Preferences.
The volume slider in macOS 26, in a panel at the top-right corner of the screen.
I finally updated my MacBook to macOS 26 earlier this week, and weirdly, it's the new volume indicator bothering me the most.
I've been used to the giant center-aligned panel with the "bloop" sounds for... 15 years? You can turn the bloops back on, but it's still weird.
StarOffice was the original codebase for OpenOffice, and that was later forked to make LibreOffice when Oracle killed OpenOffice en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarOff...
The Architect from The Matrix Reloaded saying, "this will be the sixth time we have forked StarOffice, and we have become exceedingly efficient at it"
If other devs don't step up to replace them, or the situation isn't resolved, LibreOffice will effectively go into maintenance mode.
You can see how much they were contributing by doing ctrl+F "collabora" on any of the recent LibreOffice release notes: wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes...
LibreOffice kicked out all the developers from Collabora, who were most of the main contributors on new features and bug fixes. Not great! 🫠
Trans folks, you're cool and I'm glad you're here. #transdayofvisibility
Big news!
I'm launching a tiny Mac app 🥺🔍🤏
It's called TinyStart, and it's a Launcher & Emoji picker! Unlike Spotlight, TinyStart is super fast at showing results, and it's not overcrowded with search results you don't need.
it's €5, you pay for it once and future updates are free! tinystart.app

Fortune should be mortified—"A story by Lichtenberg sometimes starts with a prompt entered into Perplexity or Google’s NotebookLM, asking it to write something based on a headline he comes up with. He moves the initial drafts into a content-management system and edits the stories before publishing."
I like that the Cylons said "we have a plan" over and over again and didn't actually have a plan. They're just like me.
Finished my Battlestar Galactica rewatch, it's still so, so good. Don't even care that the story gets a bit messy at the end, everything else is excellent.
As always, today is a great day to support artists, writers, creators of all sorts. If you have the means, buy a book, sign up for someone's Patreon, commission an art piece. It's also a lovely day to leave a nice comment, post a short review, spread the word about someone's work. Everything helps.
Snappy on macOS capturing a webcam feed of an Android figure
Snappy, my web app for automatically capturing screenshots, now supports camera input!
It might be helpful for creating timelapses or using virtual video devices. Can't switch between cameras yet, though.
Try it out: thesnappy.app
