At last an AI tool I can get behind

“Upload an architectural render. Get back what it'll actually look like on a random Tuesday in November.”

I need to become less online because you shouldn’t find out about an illegal invasion because someone posted that it wasn’t very FIFA Global Peace Prizey of Trump to do that.

Hey, do something for me, okay? Tell your favourite trans folks you appreciate 'em, whoever they might be, friends, family, artists/musicians/writers/creators of all stripes, whatever. Go tell something nice, I think we can all use it right now.

Dear queers in my phone; the intro to this episode is one of the most righteous, excoriating attacks on TERF grifter bullshit I have ever heard and it was joyfully cathartic to hear it.

I had an amazing time at #ukgc25, thank you to the organisers and everyone who attended for such an amazing event. I managed my first event by doing a talk, I might even do a write up on it...

There Is No Safe Word How the best-selling fantasy author Neil Gaiman hid the darkest parts of himself for decades.

I wrote about Neil Gaiman, and the women accusing him of sexual coercion, assault and abuse. www.vulture.com/article/neil...

Morning Bluesky! Been a while, so thought it was about time for a new #introduction. 👀

Hi, I'm Joe, I'm a technologist working in the UK public sector and long time hyper-nerd. I'll post about anything and everything!

Looking forward to expanding my network and getting to know y'all. :)

‘Mainlined into UK’s veins’: Labour announces huge public rollout of AI Plans to make UK world leader in AI sector include opening access to NHS and other public data

What worries me is not government use of AI per se but the slightly credulous way that the government talk about it, which makes me suspect they will be taken for rubes by the tech companies selling their services.

Teachers have the power to support and change the lives of autistic students.

More often than not, however, they abuse autistic students and inflict lifelong trauma.

They turn the classroom from a point of liberation to a prison.

Reading this from the PM, I think my assessment is right. This isn't so much a technology plan or a delivery strategy but a shop window for investment. on.ft.com/4gNko2L

So tomorrow is going to be a *day* and I think it's pretty clear that those who are most interested in AI as a panacea work in money, while those who are most sceptical very often work in tech.

Reading the UK government's "AI" proposals you are left with the impression that they've had precisely one (1) Powerpoint presentation on this, which led to a brainstorming session after a dangerously long lunch, which they then let "AI" transcribe for them.

I've been hit hard by the passing of @vickytnz.bsky.social. I didn't know her that well, but we got along and I looked up to her, often two ships passing in the night. She will be missed, she was an outstanding member of the community.

The responses to this heartbreaking news are all along the lines of “We would DM daily and she was always full of ideas”, or “I never met her but she really inspired me with her writing”, which tells you something of the impact one person’s generosity can have on people’s lives.

The UK Digital Gov community, the world even, has lost one of the very best in our field.

Vicky's blog posts have been a guiding light for many trying to navigate designing products that serve our citizens.

To you Vicky, may you rest in peace.
