Spent a great extended weekend in Grand Manan. We read, played board games, watched a movie and planned our summer vacation. I lost our game of Isle of Cats, but it was fun. I won Santorini New York & Ticket to Ride. Tom ruled crib matches, but I was victorious at Yahtzee (one game I got 3 Yahtzees)
I am about 3/4 through now. I have found her story heartbreaking at times, but she has such resilience. As a white woman who grew up in Canada, it can be hard to relate to sometimes (section about church). I was not expecting the activism on civil rights. Her 1st person account of that is riveting.

Spied this (Coming of Age in Mississippi) on a friend's bookshelf and borrowed. I have never heard of this book, but I had just finished Trees, by Percival Everett and it is Black History Month. They make an interesting whatever the book version is of a double feature.
Excited to see this book about Elvis Presley's cultural impact in which I co-wrote a chapter has been released today.
