This just makes me weep

gods, those nightmares never end, do they?! 😅
Me: ~notices that the jacaranda trees are in full bloom~
Me: Oh, wow, how is it June already. Time flies!
Me: Wait . . . it's not June. Is it May? What month is it?
Brain: ~discombobulated~
Me: It's only April! Why are these trees blooming almost 2 months early?!

And… Anathema’s Kickstarter is live! Please read, donate & share to increase our reach! We’re excited to bring more speculative fiction, poetry and nonfiction by queer writers of color into the world!
Our fundraiser is scheduled to run through the end of May:

A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.
Sweet liberty, sapients, have we got something for you: the "Democratic Futures" special submissions call! In short, we're looking for original and reprint science fiction stories relating to the theme of the future of democracy, from today until June 30. For more details, see today's post!
This seems like an appropriate time to share a story I wrote about 10 years ago called "Loss of Signal" about a history-making trip to the moon.

Author @piperjdrake.bsky.social is an amazing person who has embraced life to the fullest, but she's fighting Stage IV Endocervical Cancer, and it's not going great. She needs as much time on this planet as we can give her. Please support if you're able. 🙏

One of romancelandia’s own, Piper J. Drake needs our help. This is absolutely heartbreaking. Please donate if you can and share to get the word out.

Honestly, I've had no luck with prescription meds so far. There is lots of good advice on pacing, MCAS mitigation, POTS supplements, etc., online. The people at SolveCFS and RTHM have good free resources. Good luck!
All of those for me too. Sorry to hear we're stuck in the same boat! 💜
Thank you! I made it pretty recently (took inspiration from others I've seen).
Yup, brain fog, memory problems, trouble with audio and visual processing ... I have a host of neurological/brain dysfunction. Covid can literally affect any organ in your body.
Wishing you luck with your recovery!
That is appalling!!
For a year or two after I got sick, I had phantom smells of smoke and diesel. Smelling a jar of Vicks and then essential oils helped me regain my sense of smell (along with a heaping dose of luck). Good luck to you, too!
Wow, thank you so much @dei2dei.bsky.social for these kinds words about this story! It's very dear to my hear.
Tan backdrop with teal border. Text says “I have had Long Covid since my infection in January, 2021. Millions need urgent, meaningful, and sustained action.” Above the text is a photo of SB Divya, a brown nonbinary person with short black hair and dark eyes, wearing a black KN95 mask with gold jewelry.
Most people live like the pandemic never happened, but some of us never fully got our lives back.
For 5 years, I’ve lived with Long Covid in the form of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). There are millions around the world like me.
Today is #LongCovidAwareness Day. Help spread the word!
I'm still raising funds to pay for increased cancer treatment costs, & as a token of my appreciation to all donors, every contribution between Feb 1 & Mar 28 will be entered in a random draw to win 1 of 3 autographed copies of my latest novella! Click for details!

In addition to her writing, Piper does do some limited narration as Lalana Dara. Don’t miss out on her narration of A Dragon in Two Parts by Kiya Nicoll.
