Push for Texas to weaken vaccine mandates persists as measles surge Much of the outbreak is concentrated in the districts of Texas House leaders, including Speaker Dustin Burrows. The crisis appears to have done little to change support for “vaccine choice.”

INSANITY: As measles tears through West Texas — infecting hundreds, hospitalizing dozens and claiming the lives of two children — some state lawmakers are pushing bills to roll back vaccine requirements and expand access to exemptions under the banner of “choice.”

The SNP lost 38 constituency seats at the General Election last year. The idea that they can endorse a strategy around sweeping up constituency seats next year is a non-starter. They'll need every list vote and seat they can get, to compensate for constituency ones they don't.

When "globalisation" comes up in conversation with people I suggest that they take out their phones and ask google "how many countries are in the supply chain of *insert type of phone*" For mines it's 74. Do it when any piece of advanced tech and you'll get the same answer of multiple countries.

Elon, JD Vance and Marjorie Taylor Green out here babbling about Free Speech in Britain being under attack.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is *threatening Amazon* to get them to remove books that are critical of Golf-Cart Mugabe - a direct breach of First Amendment and obvious censorship.

Don't be blind to your impact.
It's super dry conditions out there. Extensive wildfires have been raging in Galloway, Arran, and Assynt/Coigach, whilst muirburn continues in the Cairngorms.

Flowers bringing some early season joy to the garden. Lots of spinach and kales getting picked in the polytunnel. Sent a few bags up to the Sunflower Pantry this morning and welcomed another new grower to the garden.

While working as national security adviser, I set up a group chat on an open source app to coordinate a strike in Yemen, potentially violating the US Espionage Act. Even worse, I also inadvertently included the editor of a US news outlet, who reported detail of the conversations.

Story yesterday about support for charging Tuition Fees for University, is a complete misuse and mis representation of what data actually said. The 48% quoted a supporting tuition fees was in response to questions where free tuition fees were no longer available. www.ipsos.com/sites/defaul...

Just a reminder, the EU has been operating a naval mission in the seas around Yemen to keep freedom of navigation open "at great cost" since 2008. A number of non-EU countries have contributed, including Ukraine... not the US though. I guess you could call that American free-loading. eunavfor.eu

Who can look at the state of the rampant tax free profiteering that goes on in the UK, and think that what we need to do is cut school meals for 6-7 year olds?

Every single Democratic lawmaker should be calling for Hegseth's immediate resignation right now. Not just some. Not just a few dozen. Every single one, starting at the top with Mr. Schumer and Mr. Jeffries. And the fact that it hasn't happened yet is nearly as shocking as Hegseth's conduct.

Fair piece:
"... after millions of pounds of public money, Nicola Sturgeon’s reputation has been dragged through the dirt for no reason. ... while vast industrial scale sums of money seem to have been money-laundered through the covid crisis with little or no inquiry or prosecution."

Rachel Reeves copied and pasted this from a Tory paper on deregulation from 2005.
Tthe impact of red tape costs could be 3 -4% of GDP, around £70 billion'.
Labour and Tories are neoliberals through and through.

National Grid chief executive John Pettigrew is on £6.3m a year. What's the betting that the substation fire that shut down Heathrow was caused by scrimping on maintenance spending rather than Vladimir Putin?
