It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.

I’d make things to entertain and delight myself and my friends. Build communities that could help each other find joy and enjoyment.

According to a recent guest on the DOAC Podcast (with whom I agree on rhis point), Capitalism has two possible outcomes for the future. Either we get Star Trek, which has eliminated capitalism, or we get The Hunger Games, which has let it run its course.

Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Iran S04 E06 Dailymotion video by L3arnTV

If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

There's no ethical way to watch the new Harry Potter series, or anything JK makes. Not if you care about what happens to trans people, at all. This is a "time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right."

My problem was more the bone behind the big toe was too long causing problems with my gait (and adding to the problem of the bunions). I’d talk to a podiatrist one way or another since foot problems affect the whole chain all the way up

So I’ve been laid up after foot surgery. I had a bunionectomy and a bone shortened. It’s a pretty dull recovery so far, but I did design and 3d print myself a cane. I design for the absurd

Oh the graph probably would have been prettier:

AnyDice AnyDice is an advanced dice probability calculator, available online. It is created with roleplaying games in mind.

This whole thread worked my head over, and I spent the last hour playing with this to see how I could visualize this in anydice:

We have moved, in my adult life, from "you can't trust Wikipedia because they don't even have any gatekeepers" to "we gotta rely on Wikipedia to hold the line because universities have been coopted"

For me it was the easy and direct access feel and glue language connecting disparate parts. I worked as a build engineer in video games and my path was batch —> bash —> python

I think there is a lot a con can do to foster and model that community building, but ultimately, just like soilent green, it’s people. There is a problem with all of the cons where you find your people (or close enough) and spend the rest of the time splintering the tree

You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her.

The perception of video games and studios as speculative investment opportunities is doing irreparable harm to the industry and its workforce. Idiocy of the highest order.

It appears that the news has broken that Caden Mark Gardner and I have programmed a series on Trans Filmmakers for the Criterion Channel. These films will be available in April
