People who do not keep the love of poetry in their hearts as they grow up lose on of the truest pleasures of life.

I'm leading a generative writing workshop next weekend (Feb. 20-22). Complete with MANY writing prompts & plenty of feedback on the spot, this workshop is fully virtual (message board setup, no Zoom) & it's crafted so you can write at your own pace.
Really, Really Well It rained. It was raining. We waited inside the paint cans. Your paint can was sundrop. My paint can was gun. The wind was standing by the pantry. Eyeing the eyeglasses. Looking deeply into the seasoning beside the giant mugs of coffee. The coins and the fake teeth and the cheese whiz were not ours. I wanted to tell you first, how I'm sending a message to the chili committee. It will make everything okay. Once it's sent, we'll be doing really well for ourselves. Really, really well. We wait for our paintings to dry. Our paintings are made of stray cattle. Our paintings are made of glass. When the time comes, you add, the sea will no longer sing. I gather my things and read by the pool. Life is cruel yet my arms still work.

It was a pleasure to read my poem at the 35th anniversary of Geist magazine last night. Such a beautiful issue and very moving words from founder, Steve Osborne. Many thanks to Emma & Dayna for having me & welcoming me so warmly

the colors of the MN state flag, a laser loon with the state flag Northstar on his chest, pointing his lasers upwards, through the neck of a Don't Tread ON Me snake, while the laser loon's beak holds the body of the snake. The severed snake head is on the ground. Written beneath: DONT TREAD ON US
the person who redesigned our state (MN) flag made this and it makes me very happy

Grateful to have a strange little poem in the latest edition of Buffalox8. The poem is a loose tautogram (most words begin with 'd') in which all of the 'd' words were sourced from a local newspaper. @buffalomag.bsky.social buffalojournal.tumblr.com/post/8017048...

about the author Kiik Araki-Kawaguchi’s work has been translated into sixteen languages. Kiik performed the translations though he has never been able to learn a foreign language and is mildly illiterate in English. The translations exist as conjectures of what Kiik’s voice might do if he was a Swedish, a Chinese, etc. As a result the Swedish and Chinese work is very clever. A literary critic once wrote Kiik please stay out of my garden I need those vegetables to make soup. In his pocket the locks of twelve children. Doused and scoured using twelve emulsions. Milky swampy perfumed. In his garden a row of twelve scalped turnips. Pale ghost riders. Paw of snowmelt resting on its heart of mud.
on thursday we made love Upon dead camellia blooms Caterpillars fell from the foxglove Stuck spines in us as we rolled through I saw your neighbors in their window above Holding those rosemallows they rescued I burned every sweet thing in the oven Twice yikes I was thinking about you
