I truly feel for all the future PI’s who won’t have this resource. How much talent is going to go unfunded.

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

In case anyone is still wondering why the social sciences and humanities have been systematically defunded and marginalized over the past generation. Seems like a basic knowledge of anthropology would be useful right about now.

This 🔽 but read the entire thread.

@michael.muthukrishna.com and I are hiring a postdoc to join our labs at NYU!  We're looking for someone excited to work on one of society's newly emerging and potentially generation-shaping challenges: the multi-agent alignment problem.

This is partly why I’m very pro lab names that seem like they should be an acronym, but aren’t and just sound cool

An abbreviation (ABB) in a journal article (JA) or Grant Application (GA) is rarely worth the words it saves. Every ABB requires cognitive resources (CR) and at my age by the time I'm halfway through a JA or GA I no longer have the CR to remember what your ABB stood for.

Love this shot. I think this is a thermal infrared camera, showing how the bottom of the capsule is still glowing due to its warmth after hypersonically ramming the atmosphere — compressing a gas heats it up a LOT when you're moving at superorbital speeds.
