The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.”

Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy.

“I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.

I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

A college instructor turns to typewriters to curb AI-written work and teach life lessons - Sentinel Colorado "What's the point of me reading it if it's already correct anyway, and you didn't write it yourself? Could you produce it without your computer?" said Phelps.

walkable cities strongly encourage a feeling of imagined community that helps make you a good citizen. if you experience the city only in slices it's easier to see large swathes of it as fundamentally alien or hostile.

This artist has 5 songs on the US iTunes Charts higher than “Pink Pony Club”

You can say that AI music is taking over or you can say the iTunes Charts are easy to game & do not represent anything real

The New York Times is now blocking The Wayback Machine from accessing its articles.

That means you'll no longer be able to view archived versions of NYT stories published in 2026 and beyond on archive.org.

(All those posts you see tracking changes to NYT headlines and ledes? They relied on WBM).

They did a listening session at 180 the strand, would have loved to hear it on that system. Glad it’s finally been reissued, even if I can’t grip it now.

I'm a Hampshire College grad. I applied early decision. Hampshire and its professors made me who I am today. It forced me to write. Its flexibility to take courses outside of campus let me complete an undergraduate degree focused on Eastern Orthodoxy. Its approach to schooling shaped my thought.

We have an Iranian friend in Tehran who has devoted his career to translating Thoreau for an Iranian readership. Starting with 'Walden,' through Thoreau's anti-slavery works and essays on civil disobedience, the lot.

We have not heard anything from him since the bombardment began.

Fire experts ‘losing sleep’ over growing hazard of lithium-ion batteries Fire service warns ubiquity of batteries in everyday products is outpacing public understanding and safety regulations Lithium-ion batteries represent a new technological hazard that one fire science expert has said keeps him awake at night, as fire service chiefs warn the ubiquity of lithium-ion batteries in everyday products is outpacing public understanding and safety regulations. The blaze that devastated a historic building in Glasgow and resulted in the continuing closure of Central Station, Scotland’s largest rail interchange, is believed to have started in a shop selling vapes, which are powered by lithium-ion batteries. The latest data reveals a sharp increase in battery-related fires across Scotland, while firefighters in London attend an e-bike or e-scooter fire every other day. Continue reading...

It shouldn’t surprise me anymore, but I still find myself forgetting that the British media regularly uses the word “expat” to describe mostly White middle/upper class Brits in Dubai while mostly non-White working class non-Brits coming to the UK are called migrants

They’re all migrants.
