The leftist pursuit of finding flaws with the opposition to authoritarianism is the most self-destructive force in modern politics.

I’m seeing Americans on the timeline point out that Magyar is also bad. Yes, correct. Good job pointing it out, have cookie.

There are no perfect candidates, no magic quick fix solutions here. Hungary is steeped in corruption and Magyar has promised reforms. That’s a step in the right direction!

There are ways to mitigate the lack of veto, like saying there needs to be at least 2-3 countries to block something.

Hungary has shown how much the veto can be abused. That leads to much more disillusionment. A single country should not be able extort everyone else.

Always great seeing authoritarians get the boot.

Looking at the differences between Claire A / Leon B and Leon A / Claire B and the sheer amount is kinda staggering.

Seems like Sherry doesn't even get infected in Claire B and Ada and Leon don't kiss in Leon A? That seems like such significant deviations from the story I experienced!

V0KAL's review of Resident Evil 2 | Backloggd This feels like the best kind of sequel. The core appeal has been tightened up, along with some very welcome additions. I certainly enjoyed Resident Evil 2 much more than its predecessor. I have never...

Also man, what a glow-up compared to the previous MCs

It's insane how much Claire and Leon blow Jill and Chris out of the water lol

Wrapped up Leon B.

Love the AB route design. Definitely feel like these games benefit from a cursory knowledge of the level design and the route system allows for that while keeping a run fresh.

I feel like there's a very distinct vocabulary for game reviews specifically, where people feel compelled to write like they're assessing hardware or something.

Like "Story: 6, Gameplay: 9, Presentation: 4" etc.

Like cmon man, just tell whether you liked it or not.

Yeah I did somethings similarly, because it felt weird seeing everyone having 300+ entries, but I think doing that is more trouble than it's worth.

I think it works much better as a logbook — good for being able to look back and what you played and your thoughts. But not as an exhaustive list.

sometimes I think people feel compelled to writer in a very professional voice for a review

but you’re not writing for publication. It’s entirely valid to write like how you would normally post or talk about something.

You don’t have to be “fair” or thorough either!

I think Letterboxd gave user reviews a bad rep, but having access to your friends and acquaintances’ thoughts on media is actually great.

Looking up a game on backloggd and seeing two friends having rated and maybe even written a lil snippet on their feelings is awesome.

»Algorithm« sounds like some fancy Greek word with a profound meaning, but it’s literally just named after its inventor, the 9th century Arabic mathematician, Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī

»Marry« in Danish is »Gift«, like a present, because women used to be considered obj- you know what, nevermind

Intuitively, you’d think »helicopter« is a compound of heli+copter.

But it’s actually »helico« (spiral) + »pter« (feather).

Y’know, because it has spiral wings.
Language is so cool.

What's funny is that the OP credits some random youtube channel. Thinking about it for one second, anyone would realize that it is impossible for some 3rd party — much less a youtuber — to have original pictures of the moon mission.

Like what, did they fly out to sea to photo the capsule?

How do you feel about spiders Nate? As an arachnophobe, this series has been an uh… experience

Are women just the superior gender in Resident Evil? Is that canon?

often have i yarned about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and today i yarn again, for did you know: as you climb and roll around, dirt builds up on the prince's lovely pants, and if you stand idly he eventually brushes it off

they bothered to have each bit of dirt remove at the right time. gods

Uuhh I’m gonna have to disagree with you there chief

whatever went on with games like Lair or Heavenly Blade seems really specific to that era imo

got to the final boss and had simply run out of ammo ages ago

had to replay the entire lab level without killing most of the enemies just to have enough grenades left

at the end of the police station I had to do a major amount of backtracking which put a damper on the fun

That's Claire A in the bag

So far RE2 is a lot more enjoyable (aside from a few spikes in annoyance)

Man, I wanted to find a clean image of Claire's design from RE2, but it seems like all the official art is either the crummy looking 3D render or a complete different look
