Yeh, that's only for the Left. It's like how MPD is crap at preventing crime, crap at responding to crime, and crap at investigating crime, and somehow Get Stuff Done centrists find their appeal persuasive and never have to answer for how bonkers that is.

Someone inside city hall — not a politician, not D.A. — made this exact point to me the other day. They noted nobody in Frey’s coalition even remotely has the legislative policy chips of, say, @ward2.minneapolismn.gov. They just outsource everything to the mayor’s office.

Centrists on the Minneapolis city council are not writing legislation, not leading with bright ideas on any of the issues in the city, not calling any experts to the table, not studious or showing any depth of intellectual curiosity, they don't excel at anything but the status quo

it is fascinating how in Minneapolis politics centrists are not held to any productivity or competence standard. the irony of them trotting out "getting stuff done" as a reason for centrism is laughable.

Ask all your Republican and Republican leaning fam in Minnesota. Are the Boundary Waters worth their slavish devotion to pedophile billionaires and being able to say shitty things about pronouns?

I worked for a progressive City Council member in Frey's first term and when my boss would ask for basic details on police and the budget during Council meetings (in 2020!), the mayor would refuse and once even likened him to a baby for asking questions. Frey eventually just stopped showing up.

Minneapolis centrists longing for the halcyon days of Dorilus Morrison, when one could give an honest thug an honest wage and a badge and before his lunch break, he could bash in the head of at least 5 or 6 socialists rabble rousing and disrupting child labor.

definitely leave it to the pragmatic people who fucked shit up to provide practical solutions on how to get us out of this mess

Today we're treated to another pile of nonsense from @startribune.com. Blaming bike lanes for causing the central business district to decline is embarrassingly stupid. And the writer, who's on multiple corporate boards, also doesn't seem to realize most target workers are in stores, not downtown 🤦

This video reflecting on the response to ICE features footage of a barricade like the ones Minneapolis Police dismantled, and then shows slow-mo footage of an MPD officer doing nothing helpful, while the narrator talks about how we all did what we could and played our individual parts.

Today 27 shackled detainees were flown from Minnesota to Louisiana.

Every ICE Air flight at MSP is observed by MN50501 volunteers - ICE hasn't stopped, neither have we.

There are a handful of people in Minneapolis who love to horde power, believe it is their birthright to run shit and act haughty about even the thought of sharing power in some Democratic representative way.

Reminder that as a judge, Todd Barnette appointed many of the Charter Commissioners who are now trying to remove the Minneapolis City Council’s power to approve several department heads, an approval Barnette just failed to get as a department head.

Cops fractured his skull for standing by in peaceful protest. And people in power claimed he assaulted the cops. No hell greater for those who smeared him. RIP.

a “ceasefire” that lasted 17 hours and killed 254 people in lebanon is not a ceasefire and referring to it as one is inaccurate

the white folks in those lynching photos or the police officers who beat John Lewis and a bunch of teenagers nearly to death got to return right back to an assumed respectability within their families, within their functions in society

A minority of his voters perhaps weren't paying attention to anything he represents or says and only cared about prices/economy but the majority knew what they were signing up for. I will die on that hill.

Mayor Frey wants you to believe that Community Safety Commissioner Todd Barnette is "calm and steady as the world is swirling around us," but I've always suspected his real personality type is "asleep."

I think about that alot and compare our current ok with the politic of genocide or apartheid or juntas murdering bystanders or support of psychopathic power drunk president. The white folks who vote for this dont ever reckon with what they have wrought. No accountability or personal responsibility

ever since I was a teen, when I would see those historical photos of lynchings with crowds of white folks socializing - I think about none of those people in the crowd had to face any justice let alone any social reckoning for psychopatic anti social behavior, beliefs and politic

Minneapolis Charter Commissioners fully expect their judge-appointed zombie corpse to still hold undemocratic control of their seat and the city at such time when the DSA mayor is elected.

Dave's CaringBridge At six this morning Dave took his last breath. Jan was by his side. We've been listening to a lot of Phil Ochs the last few…

Really sad to learn about the passing of Dave Bicking this morning. He was a longtime advocate for police accountability in Minneapolis. I hope someone writes a deep retrospective of his work and the systemic changes he championed over the decades. www.caringbridge.org/site/public/...
