The Pentagon said the Iran war cost $11 billion in the first week.
But it's way way way more than that. Hundreds of billions more.
Your family's share is thousands of dollars. And I've got receipts.

No he cannot. As of March 2026, a U.S. President cannot unilaterally withdraw from NATO due to a 2023 law requiring either two-thirds Senate approval or an Act of Congress. This law, Section 1250A of the FY2024 NDAA, was enacted specifically to prevent a president from exiting the alliance alone.
Here's what worries me. The U.S. is less oil-dependent than our peers, and so Wall Street has responded far less to the war in Iran than financial markets abroad. When the country calling the shots feels only a small share of the pain, that's a dangerous asymmetry.

Good News. How great is this?
Europe's drug regulator recommended approval for Moderna's (MRNA.O), a Covid and flu combination vaccine. This would be the first single shot to protect people aged 50 and older against both the flu & Covid.

Map showing tens of thousands of protests across the US between Trump's inauguration last year and January 31, 2026.
The volume & geographic distribution of protest nationwide during year 1 of Trump's second term was extraordinary.
This was not an inevitability.
This is the result of decades of political choices that rig the system in favor of the wealthy and powerful while leaving workers behind.
It does not have to be this way.

Let me try to articulate what I think the central economic issue of the current moment really is.

My review article talks about how to tweak Becker's model to include unintended pregnancy and the transition to lower fertility levels. Recent research in economics is about how modern contraception and legal abortion led to a reduction in unintended pregnancy: www.annualreviews.org/content/jour...
FYI:
In 1916 the U.S. signed an agreement for control of St. Thomas, St. John & St. Croix, known as the “Danish West Indies,” in exchange for $25 million & a declaration that the U.S. would “not object to the Danish Govt extending their political & economic interests to the whole of Greenland.
The top 10% of richest Americans own 87% of stocks.
The top 1% alone own roughly half of all stocks.
It's worth pointing out once again that the stock market is not the economy.
Who would even have all this information over many years???

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
Flog durch die stillen Lande,
Als flöge sie nach Haus.

Es war, als hätt der Himmel
Die Erde still geküsst,
Dass sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müsst.
Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.
